Why are they blaming Anne Hathaway ? Anne is a charming triple threat performer , and she wasn't utilized properly - probably because they didn't want James Franco to feel left out. Anne was game for anything to get a laugh and entertain the audience, but she didn't have the material nor a co-host . Also, I heard Hathaway was entertaining the audience during the commercial breaks. If the show was written, directed, and produced well, I could see a successful show with Anne partnering with Hugh Jackman, or partnering with Justin Timerlake, or even partnering with Robert Downey Jr. Hathaway gave her all that night and she proved that is the ultimate trooper. 2 years To me she did good but James acted has though he didn't want to be there at all! Dubn8tr 2 years I would hardly call that a successful show. It's clear they are trying to get younger audiences (see: autotune), but she and James bombed. She was trying wayyyy too hard, and James (who I love) looked like he really didn't care. I predict they'll go back to comedians next year. That said, the first red dress she wore was my fave. That blue Judy Jetson dress was terrible. white rabbit 2 years Franco was awful. At least she tried. 2 years The only thing worse then her was the stupid speeches from the winners. (worse ever) James was bad but at least he is good to look at. Not so Anne--ugly as always. 2 years OMG Anne was soo disappointing - she was so uncousious of everything and turned out to be just another hollywood blow up doll. bryseana 2 years I thought she did well. I liked her musical number about Hugh Jackman. She has a really good voice. 2 years I understand all the criticism. The show is very awkward and boring. But I give Ann and James a big clap for their courage. Hosting Oscar is not an easy task, the executive wants a change and the young hosts. They know both Ann & James have no experience. So I'm not going to be hard on them. They know it's a fail right after the few minute of opening show, but they did try and carry the show to the end with such enthusiasm. kissmestupid 2 years "very successful"? She bombed. Big. Much of her "jokes" were met with total silence. She was ackward and ill timed. Besides her gorgeous gowns, the only thing that saved her was comparing her to James Franco. babaloo 2 years Awesome chick. The show was awful but she looked great.
