The red carpet at Saturday evening's Palm Springs International Film Festival gala was a who's who of award season contenders. Ben Affleck was there to pick up the chairman honor, joining other stars like Natalie Portman, Javier Bardem, Carey Mulligan, and Jake Gyllenhaal. James Franco, who has garnered several major nominations for his work in 127 Hours, also made an appearance. He told us he spent the early part of his day in LA with his Oscar cohost Anne Hathaway prepping for the big show on Feb. 27 — however, he promised that he's not nervous about the gig! Natalie Portman also opened up about her role in Black Swan while showing off her growing baby bump in a short dress. She said being both pregnant and engaged is keeping her "calm" and "happy" as she makes the award show rounds.
