Carey Mulligan matched the carpet in a bright red Prabal Gurung dress at the British Independent Film Awards in London last night. She was there to accept the best actress honors for her work in Never Let Me Go, though it was predicted 2011 award season favorite The King's Speech that dominated the show — check out the full list of winners on PopSugar UK. When asked about where she would keep her new statue, Carey responded in her typically down-to-earth fashion, joking, "It will go up in my parents' house actually, they've got stuff, it's kind of strange to have it in your own house. 'Come in, have a cup of tea, look at my award!'" She also said she's been "obsessively reading" The Great Gatsby in preparation for the role that made her break down in happy tears at the CFDA's recent glamorous event. Carey has had quite the whirlwind year and she's among our favorite imports from England who we'll be seeing next in the enviable position of costarring with Ryan Gosling in Drive.
