Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner kicked off the new year in Hawaii on a family vacation with Seraphina and Violet. Jen got an early jump on the day with a private surf lesson, which is a favorite activity on their island getaways. Ben was among the stars we wanted to spend NYE with, but it turns out he was happily celebrating with his ladies. Seems the family of four is winding down after a busy 2010, though they have one more major celebration to look forward to this week when Seraphina turns 2 on Thursday.

I really like this family. They are so cute. And #2, I think it is because of the paparazzi. I read an interview he did sometime last year with esquire magazine and he talked about how he has a difficult time dealing with the paps when they are around his family. It is actually a very interesting interview. It gave me a totally different opinion of this guy.

Jan 7 2005, 05:09 As far as we know Ben doesn't go to strip clubs every week, plenty of men go to strip clubs, and they are not immature and don't act 21 just because of that, they just want to have fun. As for the gambling he seems to have it under control at the moment. He can't stay at home all the time, he is allowed to some outside fun. The press always judge celebs but the media people would better sometime look at themselves, their personal lives are probably not always that innocent either. There is too much puritanism these days, it seems we have gone back to the forties or fifties. I think Casey should have told Ben directly what he thinks and not through the press. He criticized Ben for going out with starlets, but isn't Summer Phoenix a "starlet", except she is not famous, unlike Ben's girlfriends, oh yeah, she is a "serious actress", but in which movies/films did she act?? As for Gwyneth talking negatively about Ben, gee, she should look at herself, with her huge Elektra complex, and being "daddy's little girl" at 30. Is it mature? It's weird that she found "the man of her life" once her father was dead, when he was no longer there to tell that "this man is not good enough for you". And let's not forget that Gwyneth hates Jennifer Lopez, so his being engaged to JLow must have made GP disdain Ben a bit. I don't know why Gwyneth spoke negatively about Ben, but she was not exactly innocent during their on and off relationship, while they were shooting "Bounce", she had a fling with some record exec (Guy Oseary) to make Ben jealous and it worked. Also Brad Pitt doesn't hold too fond memories of her, he even refers to her as "Paltrow", not even "Gwyneth", so she may not have been too "decent" with him either. Ben has admitted he is not great at dealing with relationships when he wants out. Ben is a gentleman, that's why he never says anything bad about his exes. Also maybe he is realistic and knows it's hard for a celebrity couple to make it work out. I mean, look at supposed "golden couple", the Pitts.
