Edith Tilles, the hairdresser who did the original (Jonathan Frid) actor's hair during the 1970 Roxanne Drew episodes and 1840 PT gave Barnabas a more feathered, youthful look: less pointy and glued down to his forehead, but not too-short, just below his collar. It was a more romantic style for him which suited his features. A look like that would also suit Mr. Depp, since he, too, has high cheekbones and incredible eyes. The feathered bangs, Emperor Augustus style, began with the character in the 1795 episodes and continued with him all throughout the series in various stages, depending on the makeup man/hairstylist, Vincent Loscalzo's take, but it was Ms. Tilles' approach which gave him a less severe look.

He's going to be chopping it all off soon. He starts filming "Dark Shadows" next month and "Barnabas Collins" has VERY short hair. I'll take Johnny with any type of hair, even bald!
