Katie Holmes hit the beach in Malibu today with her daughter Suri. The girls escaped for some fresh air in the middle of producer Joel Silver's Memorial Day party, and it seems the event was designed with kids in mind — the sand near his house featured a variety of inflatable bouncy castles and fun houses. Katie and Suri seemed content to chase each other by the surf, and their running wasn't impaired by the fact they were both in heels! Working mom Katie is back on the West Coast after spending one day in NYC last week to attend the Drama Desk Awards. Tom Cruise, meanwhile, has been in Florida shooting Rock of Ages with his bikini-clad costar Julianne Hough, but hopefully he was able to enjoy the holiday off to meet up with his real-life leading ladies Katie, Suri, and oldest child Isabella.

Katie always looks bad... and the blazer on the beach is just as bad as the shoes.... i think she is trying too hard to be some fashion icon and some renaissance parent ... Suri going to be a brat ....i think people who worship them and think katie looks good just wish they could be like her...

Glamourously, I agree. Among all the clothes in the whole world, could she not find something nicer to wear to a party - and bring flip-flops or flat sandals for walking on the beach. What she is wearing would be much more appropriate for a day of shopping in the city. I never find Suri´s outfits particularly cute either. And the pic of Katie with her heels digging into the sand just makes me laugh...

As Pepe Le Pew would say "le sigh". i don't think I've ever said "wow" looking at what Katie wears. There is always something off the mark with her outfit choices. All I can think is that it's good being Mrs. Tom Cruise--unlimited clothing allowance that she really doesn't give a rat's a$$ about the cost. If she ruins the clothes she probably just tosses it.

@12 - She dressed for a party in someone's house but that house is on the beach. Who goes to a beach house without going out in the sand? Anyway, wearing heels in the sand isn't glamorous, it's just stupid.

The kid wearing high heels was already more than ridiculous. Bad on her spine and bones. What stupid parents! Vanity of the egos. Just goes to show you what else they involved themselves in is equally ridiculous. Tom needs to father both of them or does he wear high heels, too?

katie looks GREAT here. for all you negative folks, i'm sure that she dressed for a party at the guy's HOUSE not on the beach, so it's not like she planned to wear heels on the sand. she's much more sensible than that! i'd love to see pics of them with other folks though too - suri needs friends and so does katie. i'm sure they both have them, we just never see it

They're going to have to take the heels off to get the sand out anyway, but Katie keeps them on Suri's and her feet to run in the sand. Okay...that makes a lot of sense. lol

I'm sorry, but How STUPID is this? Heels on a beach?! Katie with the amazon legs looks the fool, let alone how stupid it always looks that Suri has heels on. Take them off on a beach at least! This woman irritates the heck out of me, cannot stand the way she parents.

Why is Tom so absent from his family? Are they just co-parents to Suri and living a lie? Pics of them look so distant lately. I think the live in the same house but are no longer intimate.
