Michelle Williams Joins Her Fellow Award Season Favorites to Be Honored by NY Critics

Michelle Williams led the way in a ladylike Wren skirt and Nina Ricci top at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards in Manhattan yesterday evening. It was her second red carpet event in as many nights after Sunday's Blue Valentine Q &A. As she promoted their critically acclaimed film in one place, her costar Ryan Gosling was talking up their sex scenes in another interview. Last night Michelle was joined by a few of her fellow award season favorites like The Kids Are All Right's Annette Bening, The Social Network's Jesse Eisenberg and The King's Speech's Colin Firth. They'll be reunited again this weekend for the Critics' Choice Awards and Golden Globes, where they're all nominees. Do you think you know who will take home the statues? Oh yeah. Michelle is so strictly in it for the acting. She's not milking the whole Heath Ledger thing, interested in dating people in the business, or talking about her personal life. Spare us. If you think awards in Hollywood are given out based on pure talent, you have no understanding of how the business works. Ahem, Gwyneth Paltrow.

Probably because unlike 90% of the other celebrities featured here, Michelle Williams has actually accomplished something. She’s nominated for a Golden Globe award, the event is this weekend, and chances are very good she’ll also be nominated for her second Oscar, nominations coming up. Plus her film with the amazing Ryan Gosling, “Blue Valentine”, is opening and she has yet another film showing at Sundance this year, and that film festival starts next week. I can imagine it might be confusing to see an actress in the current limelight when there’s no accompanying pregnancy bump watches or rehab stints or reality shows in the works, but some of them actually, you know, just do their job and do it well. Crazy that she’d get attention for THAT, huh?
