Robert Pattinson Wrangles a Gator and Talks Charlie Sheen, Kristen Stewart For Hot VF Cover

Robert Pattinson is on the April cover of Vanity Fair, and the magazine just released the cover with some teaser quotes from the article. He's starting to promote Water For Elephants, and his director in that movie spoke about Rob's connection with a certain costar, the elephant Tai, while Reese Witherspoon recounted another story about his crazy fans. Robert also spoke about Kristen Stewart, Twilight, his favorite candy, and why he respects Charlie Sheen. Here are highlights:

On his relationship with Kristen: "It's just very traumatic. When [Twilight] is over, the media will lose interest [in the relationship]. There'll be nothing to say. It won't fit into a headline anymore. It won't fit into a template."
On Kristen: "Kristen is very focused on being an actress. I mean, that's what she is—she's an actress. Whereas I—I just don't really know. She's cool. Even before I knew her I thought she was a really good actress. Like, I saw Into the Wild, and I thought she was really good in that. I still think there are very few girls in her class that are as good as she is."
On Tai the elephant: "She was the best actor I ever worked with in my life. I cried when the elephant was wrapped. I never cried when anyone else was wrapped."
On being anonymous during his recent road trip: "No one recognized me or anything. And I was like, Ah, this is really cool, sitting there eating chicken wings and stuff. They always find out somehow."
On his downtime: "I've just kind of stopped doing everything. I never change the channel in my trailer. I just watch reruns of House of Payne and Two and a Half Men. I love Cops—I think it's my favorite TV show… God," he says, laughing, "I sound like such a loser."
On Twilight: "There's nothing you can do about it. That's the way it is. But it is weird being part of that, kind of representing something you don't particularly like … God. I just really headbutted it. This thing with everyone knowing you … it's weird, because people have this one-sided relationship where they look at your picture and feel they know you more than someone they actually know. I don't really know myself that well. I can't really understand it even now. It does have an angle which is attached to something quite primal in girls. I guess people want it to define them, like 'I'm a Twilight fan.'… I think people really just like being part of a crowd. There's something just tremendously exciting about hyping yourself up to that level."
On Charlie Sheen: "I like crazy people who don't give a f*ck."
Reese Witherspoon on Rob mania: "I'd never seen anything like that, ever. They were waiting at five o'clock in the morning to see him. Young girls. Where are their mothers? I hear so many horror stories about young actors with attitude showing up late or hung over, and there wasn't any of that. He worked so hard."
Director Francis Lawrence on Rob and Tai: "I wouldn't be surprised if Rob says the reason he took the movie was because of the elephant. He really fell in love."

Can't they ask this guy questions about the movie he's currently promoting. When he was promoting Remember Me most of the q's were about Twilight. Now he's promoting WFE again most of the q's are about Twilight. That is so freakin' annoying. That is the worst Rob cover I've ever seen. Everything about it look Awkward..

Some people don't seem to understand that when someone is in a magazine they are answering the questions they are asked. They are not harping on about what ever they like. Bloody hell. Where is the intelligence around here.

Popsugar, that's an alligator. It even says so on the cover. I feel bad for the poor guy. He looks ridiculous on the cover. He is trying too hard to not look like a wimpy guy and ends up looking like a wimpy guy wearing a fabio shirt with some poor animal on his shoulder. It's one of the funniest things I've seen in a while.

I thought this was to promote WFE. 99% of this interview is about Twilight, Twilight fame, and him whining about the fame Twilight brought him. Seriously Kstew's rubbing off on him. She was on the cover of vogue whining about being famous. Nothing like an actress on the cover of a fashion mag whining about hating fame. really? You know both of them could have dropped out the sequels, but then again they could not collect those 27 and 25 million paydays. In an interview he said before Twilight nobody would talk to him now all these doors are open and he's getting parts. Well Rob you have to take the good with the bad. There are billions of people in the world who would love your version of "bad". God actors & actresses are such narcissists

I understand the popularity of the twilight series but it's nauseating how these magazines harp on one subject and just beat it to death. I want to know about other projects or the draw of this film for him, I honestly don't care if they are dating or anything about Twilight right now. Just leave it alone and move on, let these actors promote whatever current movie they are working on, like "Water for Elephants" (one which I'm interested in because i loved the book)

#17 and #18 there is a huge difference between having to do your job and promote movies and what Rob has to put up with every day. Spiteful people tearing apart everything he says and does is way beyond the call of duty. Frankly I don't know how he manages to stay so sweet and down to earth...not many do in his position.

If he doesn't like this series, why doesn't he quit? I mean, the screenplay were disasters, the directors were OK (Chris's direction was the worst). I don't blame him for that. But he said "weird" about the movie that gives the fame, wealth and opportunity. That is disrespect and ungrateful. Just quit.

Great interview. I loved it when he said he was allergic to pot! Guess he got the last laugh on that one hehe. After the ridiculous crap he's had to put up with the past couple of years by the craziest of the crazy twilight fans/paps/stalkers who can blame him if he doesn't like anything Twilight at all anymore. I liked it at first too but it got old real quick because of the robsten/nonsten lunacy and the mass production of twilight crap being shoved down our throats. I loved his honesty about the idea he has to be grateful and can't complain about bad parts. Anyone who thinks a person should have to put up with the shit this guy does for the price of fame needs their head checked stat. Oh and Aitch3, the inside pic of him @ the piano is mouth watering!
