George Clooney stuck behind the camera yesterday on the Cincinnati set of his new film The Ides of March. Ryan Gosling is the leading man in the movie, and he was seen strolling between scenes near an old-school payphone. George is back in the director's chair after helming other pictures like Good Night and Good Luck and Leatherheads, but he's still focusing on his philanthropy. He's active in bringing attention to the humanitarian situation in Sudan, though George recently confessed he'd never be a viable politician due to his past drug use and womanizing ways. Shooting in the Midwest may keep Ryan away from Hollywood this weekend, where his film Blue Valentine is up for honors at the Oscars and Independent Spirit Awards. He wasn't nominated at either ceremony in the category of best actor, but we're holding out hope he'll show his handsome face to support the movie and his costar Michelle Williams.
