Larry King gathered some of his famous friends together in LA last night for a telethon designed to raise money for victims of the Gulf oil spill. Nicole Richie, Pete Wentz, and Ryan Seacrest manned the phones at CNN's studios and ultimately helped in collecting $1.8 million for their cause. Ian Somerlander from The Vampire Diaries suggested that other big energy companies pitch in funds, while True Blood's Sam Trammell chatted to callers with Gavin Rossdale. Chelsea Handler and her good friend Jenny McCarthy added some levity to the evening. The event was organized to replicate the success of Larry's fundraiser for Haiti and provide philanthropic stars with another chance to go some good.
