Would You Watch a Sex and the City Prequel?

Sex and the City 2 just hit theaters, and speculation is already mounting as to what will come next. Sarah Jessica Parker wants a third film, and costume designer Patricia Field said it's quite likely. However, the next movie may not star SJP at all. Candace Bushnell's new book The Carrie Diaries, which focuses on Carrie Bradshaw's teenage years before moving to NYC and meeting her best friends, might be given the big-screen treatment. Miley Cyrus, who has a cameo in SATC 2, has already expressed interest in playing young Carrie. The series might not be the same without Sarah Jessica, but tell us what you think — would you watch a SATC prequel?

A definite no. I thought a sequel was unnecessary as well, though it turned out to surprise me, but a prequel would be an even worse idea. The thing that makes this franchise so good is the chemistry between the four leading ladies. It would not fare as well without them. And Miley Cyrus.. um.. I don't think I need to say more, I've already been spoken for.

Man, I wish that studios would just learn when to let things die. Even the second movie was a bad idea and overkill, why not just let series/movies etc. end when they are supposed to (leaving fond memories) instead of making everyone sick of them?

oh lord no...please stop ruining my favorite TV show with horribly written sequels!! i have yet to see SATC2, but i'm almost scared to after reading the reviews...surprisingly, i'm on board for a prequel. as long it is 1. well written. 2. not starring miley cyrus and 3. not ridiculously over the top like the last 2 movies have been. i really like the idea of a movie showing where the girls came from, how they met, and about realistic, 20-something life in NYC. The Carrie Diaries is on my summer reading list, but i think that focuses on Carrie in high school, so the other 3 girls wouldn't even be in the story yet.

I don't see how they could pull it off without looking completely ridiculous. The show was a little far-fetched but it was entertaining. The movies are beyond overkill. Besides the EXTRAVAGANT clothes, the really have cheapend the story lines. It would be cool to know about their pasts and families, as it's rarely brought up on the show, but they'd probably butcher that as well, so NO.

Do I care about any of these people anymore? NO! Not even in the slightest. I might watch part 2 for the clothes, but quite frankly I'm just waiting for a special SATC2 book of clothes that someone will surely put out in order to beat the horse until it is not only dead, but a squishy stain on the sidewalk. If they feel the need to make another Candace Bushnell why not go with Berdorf Blondes. At least we have a new set of characters.

First of all, while I would love another movie, I don't think they should, not if they want to redeem themselves. While there are ladies like me who are all for fluffy, fashiony, girly movies, there are those who like witty, intellectual, thought provoking stuff. It's those witty, intellectual, thought provoking stuff that's going to get critics talking and the cash register ringing. Sex and the city was critically acclaimed at one point, not only was it fluffy, it was witty and thought provoking. Fashion and sexual ethics all in one. Not anymore. Now it's a franchise, almost like High School Musical.That said, again, I would adore a third movie. I would not adore Miley Cyrus being cast. I would much rather someone like Emma Roberts get it.

The Miley comments are hilarious! I agree 100%! They need to quit while they're ahead. SATC and SATC 2 are [barely] a step forward and casting Miley (in addition to making a prequel in the first place) would be 100 steps back. The [tv] show was genius; lay it to rest already. Besides, it just wouldn't be the same without the girls!

I want to see the sequel, why not? But a third and a prequel is just too much. I even think that the sequel was unnecessary. I can't imagine how force a third or a prequel will be.
