Prince William and Kate Middleton Mix Duty With Pleasure

Apr 12 2014 - 7:03pm

Prince William and Kate Middleton are making the most of the hectic royal tour schedule this weekend, bringing their infectious energy to everything from sporting events to church. On Sunday, the couple popped up at the rugby stadium in Dunedin, New Zealand, where they cheered on children playing a game of Rippa Rugby, a noncontact version of the sport. William got in on the game, taking the field as Kate watched from the sidelines in jeans and a sweater.

Earlier in the day, the couple attended a Palm Sunday service at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul after their picture-perfect arrival at the airport in Dunedin, kicking off a two-day trip with smiles and waves. For her first ensemble on day seven of the royal tour, Kate chose an aquamarine dress and matching hat by, respectively, New Zealand designers Emilia Wickstead and Jane Taylor. The duchess debuted the ensemble as she exited the plane with Prince William. After a traditional Maori welcome, the couple left the airport in a motorcade.

The royals shared the look of love [1] as they toured Cambridge, New Zealand, on Saturday, paying their respects at a war memorial and later opening the country's new velodrome, where they hung out with cyclists and accepted a bike for Prince George. At one point, William spoke with a woman who presented him with a wool shawl for his son. "You might have to make another one soon," the duke reportedly said. The comment has bolstered speculation that Kate might be pregnant [2] after reports suggested she drank water as Prince William sipped wine at the first state dinner of their tour [3].

While his parents keep up with their packed itinerary, 8-month-old George will rest in Wellington, New Zealand, under the care of his nanny, Maria Borrallo. The family will reunite before they travel to Australia next week.
