A Question For Gwen and Gavin

I love that Daddy's pants match the car seat lining, but shouldn't little Kingston actually be in the car seat? Why is it that celebrity parents love to carry their kids? I thought newborns should be tucked in nicely while being lugged around. I think Gwen knows she has a cute kid and wants to show him off to the cameras.

jumjum - I feel like such a maroon, but I never could get the hang of a sling - and I tried a few different ones. The Bjorn was handy but not exactly what I'd call comfy. I used it all the time with my son, but my daughter is a tiny little bruiser and I just couldn't lug her around in that thing.

Snuggli's and Bjorns are actually the LEAST comfy carriers for baby. I got the Bjorn with the "lumbar support", which never even touched my back, and used it once. Slings and wraps and pouches were far more comfortable for me. But mostly, being held is always better than not, no matter how it's done.

Also my guess with all the carrying is that it's a protective thing considering that they are almost always surrounded by the paparazzi (sp? doesn't look right), which also have the tendency to get out of line and forceful, especially when it come to getting pictures of celebrity kids. The photogs will stop at nothing to get what they want including full blown harassment...I'd carry my kid all the time to in public. Helps for quick getaways instead of having to dick around with bulky in-the-way-strollers and the like.

well for me i had been in a serious car accident and broken my sternum when i was pregnant. i had a very difficult time managing the baby at all so i was glad to have the carrier/seat option. if you have back problems or other physical limitations it's probably the same. those snuggly carriers aren't possible for everyone because of the weight and pressure it creates on your chest area. having choices makes it nice for everyone.

I honestly don't understand why everyone goes ape over mothers carrying their babies all the time. This is a natural instinct. Babies love to feel close to their mommies and daddies and vice versa. They are babies for such a short period of time that why not enjoy the cuddling and closeness? I love the fact that both Britney and Gwen carry their little men on them all the time. I agree with everything you said KimmiAnn.

well whatever you want to call it. i used it more with each child. they have a little fold out frame you can snap it into and it becomes a stroller! so handy.

I believe the majority rules! It is a CAR seat, not a carrier and they are extremely heavy when you have the baby in them. Not to mention bulky and a mega pain in the ass. They are great if you are going in somewhere and need somewhere to sit the baby...but it's much better to carry the baby around when possible. Not to mention baby feels much more secure in their parents arms then slug unaround in a car seat.

I only put my son in the car seat when we were actually getting in the car ... I always carried him to the car.

Kingston is so cute and Gwen is really proud of him as she should be. I like Gwen and Gavin and I don't think they are media whores trying to show off their kids, it's like the other posters said the carseats are heavy. Also maybe she likes being close to him since he's still so young.

The thing is a carseat, not a baby carrier. It is for the car. I never had one with my son (we have a Convertable car seat.), I just had him in the sling all day. Plus it is safer to hold them when you're dealing with the Pap, I suppose. Did you guys see her cool sling from Rockin' Baby Slings? Even though she's wearing it backwards, it's still nice to see someone in the public eye touching their infant.

I think celebs carry their babies so they don't get flung around if they are trying to get away from the papparazzi.

Maybe he doesn't like the carrier. Or maybe he was already asleep on her before they walked out to the car. Or maybe she just likes snuggling with him. His little pants are adorable.

even though she looks great--very thin post baby--i bet she carries him on her chest to cover her tummy! i don't really like what i know of her, and it strikes me that she might use the baby as a tummy accessory....

I never bought one of those carriers...I just used my stroller. They are heavy. Add the weight of the child, your purse and a baby bag...way too much. Kingston is too cute!!

I carried my babies all the time, especially my first... This little guy looks like Gavin in my opinion, and I am not really liking the heels and sweats...but if anyone can get away with it she can...

i loved carrying my daughter everywhere when she was born. now shes too heavy and preffers to walk instead of strollers, or being carried. the only exception is when we are in a parking lot. Her daddy carries her. and in a store, no matter how much she cries, she goes in the shopping cart.

Actually, it's better for the kid to be held closely by his parents in a situation where there's no safety concerns. Babies love the contact with their mom's skin, they feel safer and happier when they're close to her. It helps forming a healthy bond between them (same goes to Dads). Of course the baby should be placed on the car seat once you get in the car. Gwen and Gavin are doing the right thing.
