The Top 7 Expert Beauty Tips We Learned Backstage at New York Fashion Week
Heading backstage at New York Fashion Week, we picked up a plethora of beauty tips. Hair, nail, and makeup experts give us premium access to their favorite tricks (particularly of the time-saving sentiment, since their jobs involved getting 30 or so models out in under an hour). So today we're paying it forward and letting you in on the top seven beauty tricks we learned at NYFW. They have truly changed our lives!
Famous Ladies Spend the Night Before Oscars With Chanel
A few of the most fashionable celebrities in Hollywood turned out for Chanel's pre-Oscars dinner in LA last night. Best actress nominee Jessica Chastain and Kate Bosworth wore Chanel dresses for the event, where they rubbed elbows with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Ginnifer Goodwin, January Jones, and Rachel Zoe.
Jessica walked the red carpet solo, but she raised plenty of eyebrows the previous night when she left the Women in Film pre-Oscars bash with boyfriend Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo. She has been notoriously tight-lipped about her romantic life, but it was revealed that Jessica Chastain's boyfriend has connections to the fashion industry: he's an executive at Moncler. However, Jessica will be taking her grandmother — not boyfriend Gian — to the Oscars, where she is up for the best actress prize. Don't forget to tune in to our LIVE Oscars red carpet coverage and viewing party starting tonight at 5:30 p.m. EST/2:30 p.m. PST.
The Top Makeup Trends From NYFW: Get Ready For Color and Cat Eyes!
When it came to makeup trends, the New York Fashion Week Fall 2013 runways were alive with color. High-voltage hues in the form of fuchsia lips graced models' faces at Diane von Furstenberg. Cat eyes got an upgrade at Michael Kors, thanks to artist Dick Page's masterful sweep of smoky black and soft pink hues. And at Rachel Zoe, oxblood lips made an appearance due to artist Charlotte Tilbury's top techniques. Check out our video now to see what's on the horizon for Fall.
Miley Cyrus and Kim Kardashian Toast Mario Testino's New Exhibit
Miley Cyrus and Rachel Zoe helped celebrate with Mario Testino at a big pre-Oscars bash in LA. It was a private reception toasting Mario's new exhibit at LA gallery Prism, which features many of his most famous photos. Plenty of his admirers were on hand yesterday, including models Alessandra Ambrosio, Jessica Hart, and Liberty Ross. Marisa Tomei and Kim Kardashian made the rounds as well. Kim was happy to finally cross paths with Mario, tweeting afterward, "Fun night! Met one of my favorite photographers, Mario Testino!" Mario's party was one of the many taking place in Hollywood one day before the Oscars — see all the stars partying at Oscars events.
Braids, Ponytails, and More! Watch the Top Hair Trends From New York Fashion Week
According the New York Fashion Week runways, Fall 2013 hair trends will likely lean in the direction of braids, ponytails, and '90s grunge. In short, there's something for everyone: slicked-back ponytails like we saw from stylist Orlando Pita at Michael Kors, milkmaid braids spotted at Alice + Olivia, and plenty of grungy texture, as lead stylist Paul Hanlon created on models' strands backstage at 3.1 Phillip Lim. Not convinced you can pull any of this off? Watch our video to discover all the tricks to Fall 2013 hairstyling.
Get the "Fresh and Naughty" Makeup Backstage at Rachel Zoe
Rachel Zoe's models never hit the runway without some element of glamour. For Fall 2013, it was all about re-creating a young Erin Watson or Kate Moss look, including a "badass lip" as requested by Rachel herself — which translated into an ombré style. Models were made to look fresh-faced and glowy with BB cream and bronzer, while the hair was cool, casual, and weekend-chic. Go backstage to see the magic unfold before the show.
