Hollywood stars had a heavy workload this week. Tom Hardy got a lot of face-licking love from his latest costar on the set of Animal Rescue in Brooklyn, while Ryan Kwanten wielded weaponry as he shot scenes for True Blood in LA. Ryan Kwanten suited up for a day's work on the set of True Blood yesterday in LA. The handsome Aussie alternated between a muscle-baring tank and a police officer uniform while shooting scenes for the HBO hit. Ryan was joined by True Blood's newest villain, Rutger Hauer, who will play Macklyn — a man curiously linked to Sookie and Ryan's character, Jason Stackhouse.
True Blood's season five finale left a surprisingly high body count for fans of the vampire drama to tally and a cliffhanger to keep them stewing since August. The wait is nearing an end, as HBO announced the Summer series will return in June, with Ryan, Alexander Skarsgard, and new parents Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer reuniting for a sixth season.
The White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington DC on Saturday night was a star-studded affair and the political fun continued at an afterparty thrown by Bloomberg and Vanity Fair. Famous faces from the big and small screens, music world, and more came out for the glamorous annual event, which was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. President Barack Obama also gave a funny speech, which Martha Stewart apparently appreciated since she tweeted, "A+ to Jimmy Kimmel and President Obama — great speeches, funny, smart and just disrespectful enough."
Chace Crawford joined his sister Candice and her husband Tony Romo for the evening out while Elizabeth Banks hung out with Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Rashida Jones. Sofia Vergara snapped pictures of George Clooney and President Barack Obama inside during dinner, and Kim Kardashian met up with Martha. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend paired up for the big event, but didn't make it to the afterparty since Chrissy had to be up early for a morning flight. Ivanka Trump arrived on the arm of husband Jared Kushner, while Dylan Lauren and Lauren Bush Lauren posed together on their way into dinner. Rachel Zoe wore an embroidered Valentino dress for the occasion and took time away from Rodger Berman to chat with Georgina Chapman, Kerry Washington, and others. Ryan Kwanten stars in Griff the Invisible as a shy office worker harboring a secret superpower. The movie, which hits select theaters this weekend, will give fans of Ryan the chance to see him take on a character much different than the self-assured, but slightly dim-witted, Jason Stackhouse on True Blood. We recently spoke to Ryan at a press day for the film, which shot in his native Australia, to find out more about what attracted him to the role. Ryan told us he could relate to Griff's quiet side and also talked about what he'd do if he had an invisibility cape of his own. Knights of Badassdom revolves around a group of modern day men involved in medieval times LARPing (live-action role playing, for the uninitiated), but the truly bad-ass thing about the movie is the cast. It features small screen stars I adore, like True Blood's Ryan Kwanten, Game of Thrones' Peter Dinklage, and Community's Danny Pudi. Steve Zahn and Summer Glau round out the group, who get so caught up in their cosplay (that's costume play) that they accidentally unleash a demon woman. To get rid of her, they have to summon up the LARP skills they've been accruing and actually put their swords and armor to good use.
There are some funny moments in the trailer, but it's truly worth it just to see Kwanten doing comedy (which I need after his recently creepy story arc on True Blood). Check it out when you read more
Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin headed south to San Diego yesterday for Comic-Con's True Blood panel. Anna Paquin wore red Antonio Berardi, looking hot next to her husband. The cast had a strong showing with Alexander Skarsgard, Ryan Kwanten, Rutina Wesley, Kevin Alejandro, Nelsan Ellis, Kristin Bauer, Deborah Ann Woll, and creator Alan Ball joining in for the discussion. A few spoilers were revealed during the fan chat — Buzz has a full rundown of the True Blood at Comic-Con Q & A — like the mystery behind Alexander's "dorky outfits" this season and whether we'll see how Eric turned Pam into a vampire. Fans of the program's shirtless scenes are in store for a treat as it was also revealed Eric and Sookie will soon share a shower scene which, of course, requires Alexander to once again show off his abs!
Ryan Kwanten and Alexander Skarsgard smiled for the cameras at last night's Summit Entertainment Comic-Con party in San Diego. Ryan and Alexander, who are currently on hiatus from the HBO hit, turned out at the Hard Rock Hotel for one of the evening's many soirees. Alexander was also spotted at a downtown bar later on that night, where he caught up with a few of his fans. He and Ryan are in town for the True Blood panel being held later today. Ryan took some time away from his Summer in Australia, while Alexander made the trek to Comic-Con after getting an honorary degree from Leeds University on Wednesday.
