Shia LaBeouf at Lawless Premiere in New York | Video

Shia LaBeouf told us about how he made professional friends like never before on the set of Lawless. And that never happens. And how he personally wooed co-star Tom Hardy. 'Cause I wrote a fan letter. I'm Allie Merriam. Get the scoop on Shia's big New York premiere of Lawless in today's PopSugar Rush. I mean, the way that we got Tom was I wrote a fan letter. You know, it was like, "Tom, I think you're incredible. I saw Bronze and it changed my life. Please be in this movie." And he sent me back a letter saying, "Yeah, send me the script." So he read the script and loved it and showed up. I had already created this like, oh my god, Tom Hardy. Lawless is the story of brothers, played by Tom and Shia, who run into trouble with their bootlegging business during the prohibition era. Amid violence and run-ins with the law, Shia's character tries to romance Mia's. Shia filled us in about how it was on set with both women. Jessica was like the referee between the brothers and me and Mia couldn't speak to each other. She was scared of me. And so the only way that I could communicate with Mia was through my iPod. I would find song titles that expressed what I wanted to say and then I would give her my iPod and then she would respond back in a song title. Yeah, she wouldn't speak to me because I was pretty forward. Yeah, I've stayed in touch with everybody. Everybody stayed in touch. And that never happens. We had so much fun together. We were kind of all in Peachtree City, Georgia. Really got along like a little family. It was great fun. Joining Shia on the red carpet was his Yves Saint Laurent clad co-star, Jessica Chastain, who told us that they actually had a pretty unconventional way of bonding on set. We would drink Moonshine. As soon as we got a bunch of Moonshine. It's a movie about Moonshine. Life can mimic art. Their beverage of choice seemed rather appropriate considering movies Prohibition-era theme.
