Simon Gives Ex Terri $9 Million Parting Gift — Sweet or Creepy?

Over the weekend we learned that Simon Cowell and his longtime girlfriend Terri Seymour recently ended their relationship. Now, rumor has it that Simon gave Terri almost $9 million as a goodbye present, five of which was just in cash and the other four towards a Beverly Hills home. While this is more than generous, it might seem as if he is paying her as thanks for all their years together. So, what do you think of Simon's final gift to Terri — sweet or creepy?

It's not sweet or creepy, it's smart. She would have sued him for half his fortune which would have been more than 9 mill anyway. And she can do that as long as they were in a de facto relationship for a certain number of years and the article says 'longtime' girlfriend.

I would take that money and run. Seriously, it's not like Simon is hurting for cash. He has A LOT more than $9 million, so its not like it's a big deal for him to give her some cash so she can take of herself.

I THINK THAT MAYBE HE BROKE HER HEART AND THERE MIGHT BE SOME KIND OF GUILT BEHIND IT. ALSO SHE PROBABLY DIDN'T HAVE A PLACE OF HER OWN, AND HE JUST WANTS TO SEND HER ON HER WAY WITH LOOT. IN A WAY I THINK ITS KIND OF HIM AND I ALSO THINK THERES MORE TO IT.

i agree with a lot of you guys. in a way... she was with him while he went thru all his success and now for them to part and for him to take his lifestyle away and leave her in the dust isn't really 'fair' so in a way it's like alimony bc her support was worth something.

He's actually a nice enough dude if you look past his 'evil judge' persona on American Idol, I'm not surprised by this at all. He has enough money to throw around anyway!

he must genuinely care for her and maybe the split truly is amicable with the reasons being what he said (not wanting to get married, have kids, etc)....its rare that people don't lie/act petty in breakups but maybe this is the real deal. otherwise, though, he could be paying her off to keep her mouth shut about shady things? though i'd like to believe he just loves her.

ElenaEv ... no, that's not what I said. Of course single people are not second class citizens. The law, however, will not divide property after a break-up unless the people are legally married. The law will not equitably divide property between you and your friend if the two of you decide to buy a house together and then it goes sour (yes, there are breach of contract actions, but there is no equitable divide based on who brought what - monetary and non-monetary - into the relationship). That said, I agree with tyry ... she earned every penny.

They weren't married and although I don't know Ca common law marriage laws at all (Maryland doesn't recognize it), I doubt it's related to that. My guess? some hush hush money.

I hate to use the word "sweet" in connection to anything that Simon Cowell does because he doesn't strike me a sweet person. However I don't find it creepy either so i had to chose sweet. I agree with lizzy and Megin, they are separating because he doesn't want to give her the things that she wants: marriage and kids. So he's set her up for life to make sure that whoever she finds those things from, be they rich or poor, she can enjoy her family and have a nice lifestyle and be comfortable. Nothing wrong with that! I'd take it for sure!!

Maybe if this happened between other celebs who came off creepy already I would say creepy, but I think that Simon is probably a good guy and he was just making sure she wouldn't have to worry about anything. Who really knows, but I'll say sweet.

I think it's sweet. He loves her, but can't give her the married-with-children life she's grown to want... kind of seems like a "wish things were different, but no hard feelings" gesture. Especially since he's sooooooooo loaded. Plus, she spent some her the most prime marrying years with him...

creepy and honorable if its true, Terri's not the type to kiss and tell but i think that because they have been together so long and are such good m8s that he still cares for her, i think he knows that when they break up she wont have the same sort of life they have been having together for years so he dosnt want to take that away from her...hes a really generous man and gives alot of money to charities in the uk and im sure the us too so i think its just his way, but seriously 9million quid?!?!

they were together for many years. had they been married, like she wanted, she probably wouldn't have left empty-handed. in any event, isn't the better question why she took it?
