Hi, I'm Shannon Vestal and on Watch, Pass, or Rent we're looking at Snow White and the Huntsman. Kristen Stewart plays the iconic fairy tale character who teams up with huntsman Chris Hemsworth to face off with the wicked Queen Ravenna, played by Charlize Theron. Find me someone who doesn't fear the dark forest. is to hunt her down. We've seen a lot of Snow Whites in pop culture lately, and the twist in this one is that it's extremely action packed. And while it is a little long, ultimately is is a really exciting take on the classic story. Kristen Stewart does a good job as Snow White, and it's a welcome relief to see her not playing a character who's as weak as Bella Swan. But for me the real heavyweights of this movie are Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron. charming even when this character is drunk, dirty and disorderly. "I seem to have drunk it all, but you're welcome to it when it comes out again." And Charlize is just terrifying as a queen who's as vain as she is evil. "You will do this for me Huntsman!" The visuals of this movie are awesome, especially when it comes to the Queen's costumes and her strange beauty rituals. However, I think the director goes too far with a lot of the special effects. For example, there are a lot of really strange CGI creatures that seem like they're there to impress the audience, but I just didn't think they were necessary. My hearts bows before the princess father. Even though this is Snow White, it is not a girly princess movie. There are battle scenes and it's more about Snow White being a hero and defeating the Queen than it is about a love story, which I think made me enjoy it more. Snow White and the Huntsman is a little bit too long, but it's also a really fun summer adventure movie, and at this point I'd pretty much watch Chris Hemsworth in anything, so this one's a watch.
