Southland Tales

Sarah Michelle Gellar got all sexed up as Maxim's 2008 Woman of the Year. While most magazines are declaring who were the reigning entertainers of this past year, Maxim is looking forward and predicting SMG's big comeback with many movies including Southland Tales. In the article SMG dishes about being a tough girl and why she decided to do her first Maxim cover. Here are highlights:

• On holding her own in a fight:
  "Chicks are dirty -- hair pulling, scratching. Guys have guy codes. They don't sucker-punch. They don't punch in certain areas. Anything goes in chick fights. But if anything ever goes down, I think I'll be OK. I'm pretty scrappy."
• On why she decided to do the cover:
  Lots of things. I’m 30, and I’m promoting a bunch of different kinds of movies. I like to shake things up every once in a while. It’s good to leave people wanting more, but I don’t want to leave them waiting too long or they’ll lose interest. Besides, how could I not do a Maxim shoot when I have a movie coming out in which I play a porn star?
• On Why She Doesn't Have Kids Yet:
  "You can't be selfish and have a child... Right now I want to live my life and have fun. I want to go sit in my Jacuzzi and drink wine all night."

Sarah Michelle is finally making her way back on the big screen in Southland Tales. The movie was just premiered in Cannes and while we've missed SMG but unfortunately The Hollywood Reporter panned the movie. They said, "(Sean William) Scott, (Dwayne "The Rock") Johnson and Sarah Michelle Gellar, as the porn star, do their best with the lame material, but it's uphill work. There was more fun and greater character development in 'Starship Troopers.'" Ouch. Maybe they make some tweaks before it hits theaters later this year.

set in the futuristic landscape of Los Angeles on July 4, 2008, as it stands on the brink of social, economic and environmental disaster. Boxer Santaros (The Rock) is an action star who's stricken with amnesia. His life intertwines with Krysta Now (Sarah Michelle Gellar), an adult film star developing her own reality television project, and David Clark (Seann William Scott), a Hermosa Beach police officer who holds the key to a vast conspiracy.

I recently also read that she really wants to guest star on husband Freddie's new ABC comedy. He thinks it's too early and she needs to wait until next season (if it makes it).
