Not a fan of Ms. Jones, but when did Barbara Walters become such a tacky, petty b---h? This woman used to cover wars, get interviews about important and prominent people (Fidel Castro is the most memorable) and report...news. Now she's doing THIS garbage? Um, what do you really expect when you fire someone and they still have to show up for months? ABC actually missed out in ratings because the next month would have been must-see TV if she was still on. I'm not surprised by Star's choice. The woman certainly wouldn't go quietly and she made a deliberate, and IMO, wise choice to address this on her on terms. It shows you how fake these women are. Didn't they all hold hands and tear up a bit after Star's announcement? And it's a "betrayal" five minutes later? The fact that they automatically went into fake autopilot says a lot.

i hope she paid in full for the gastric because i cant imagine she will be getting any other jobs anytime soon. considering nobody likes her!

Of all the weeks for me to be so busy I couldn't even take a moment to watch the only part of The View I ever watch, the chatter at the start of each show. I missed some good stuff! Nothing is going to stop me from watching CNN tomorrow! I'm sure it's gonna be goooood!

pinkangelmonkey, insurance covers gastric bypass surgery for people with bmi of 40 or more who are otherwise healthy and for people with bmi of 35 or more who have diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc. I know that wasn't your intention, but just a little FYI. it's considered medically necessary and it's cheaper than treating the many diseases and health issues that those people would need if they stayed morbidly obese. i really think that's a great policy and it saves money.

if my insurance plan covered cosmetic surgery and antidepressants, they'd save tens of thousands (a little over $30K since I started) each year from weekly visits to the shrink. how many years can you really talk about your childhood and your body image issues against your will? um, 5 years have gone by and i'm not cured? I go because the waiting room is like a fricking spa. sooo serene..

So we all know Star is a hypocrit mean jerk at times. What do you think suddenly made them want to get rid of her. I would have been gotten rid of that non-qualified dummy Elizabeth a looooong time ago. I thought Lisa Ling was an idiot for leaving the show. After all, many young women were fired before her. Replacing her with Elizabeth is like replacing Marie Claire-NYT hybrid with Daughters of the American Revolution weeklies. How does Elizabeth represent the views of young America?! Anyway, go Lisa and her global travels. Being a cashier at a super Wal Mart sounds more enjoyable than working with these b----es.

And why are most of the women on that show 45-65+? Is that really representative? Who really watches the show regularly? I would assume stay-at-home moms, homemakers, retired women (65+) and people who are sick and can't garner the strength to change the channel. The majority of homemakers and stay-at-home moms live in middle America (states that are NOT bordered by the Atlantic or Pacific) as well as pockets of rich people who I'm sure are doing something far sexier with their time (spa, tennis, yoga, horseback riding). These are of course sweeping stereotypes.

IMO, they don't necessarily need a black or asian woman on the show because it doesn't represent their audience though diversity is nice. They need a hispanic woman who isn't cliche (the saucy Eva Longoria or the Rosario on Will&Grace). They need a young mom who isn't Elizabeth. Any other young mom will do really. They need an older woman who isn't high profile -- a regular woman who worked for a living like the rest of America and is now retired. They should really just fire everyone, Babs included.

I watch that show only if there is a guest i want to see. I wouldn't mind Shelly Morrison on the show....but Eva LongWhoria...um, no thanks. hypocrite mean jerk, yes. i hate how she carries herself BUT why does she owe it to people? al roker and Carnie Wilson had highly publicized surgeries. I think showing these high profile success stories makes people forget that it is a VERY serious procedure with a very significant mortality and morbidity rate. There are people who have actually GAINED weight so they can qualify for it. have you heard of the many people who have had terrible complications? or the people who have died during or after the procedure, not just from plain risk of surgery and anesthesia but also the fragile health of the morbidly obese. many celebs have gone from kinda chubby or overweight to fit/healthy weight. i'm glad kirstie alley and sarah ferguson do weight watchers ads. 60% of americans are overweight last time i checked, but probably only a fraction of 1% are morbidly obese. if someone is that unhealthy, they should be discussing this with surgeons and former patients at bariatric centers, not making their decisions on star jones losing 150+ lbs in a bit over a year or al roker dropping a good 50 lbs just 3 months after his procedure. coming from a family of medical folk, i know tv and internet are poor sources of unbiased medical information. we all know star had gastric bypass. i don't need to see another evening news special on her surgery.

If she didn't want a response to her leaving, she should've waited and announced it when both sides had agreed to do so. Instead she ups and does what she pleases, so the show has every right to say what they please about it.

EP- no i dont think she owes anybody. she shouldnt have said in her book it was diet and exercise. we know that isnt true. im not saying that there should have been a special though the specials were good in introducing people who didnt know about gastric bypass to the surgery. i know that celeb's influence their audiences and to an extreme sometimes. i am just saying that she was morbidly obese and i dont want her to let her other morbidly obese fans believe she was dieting and exercising alone to achieve those results. we could go on and on about this topic forever, in my opinion i believe she has a responsibility of being in the celebrity light to let her fans know how she really lost it. there are people out there who are in dire circumstances and they dont know their options. yes there will always be people who say oh star did it so can i. and there will always be others who believe she did achieve those results with diet and exercise and have hope that at their weight that is all they need.

With all the gossip going on they really need to hire somebody who is younger to replace star. Somebody that people who enjoy tabloid reports would enjoy. Haha is all I can say to Star ever since her Bridezilla wedding I have not been able to watch that show. I am also saddened by the fact that we will never see the Rosie vs. Star face off.

Ethiopian Princess, I understand why Barbara Walters did it. There have been rumors swirling that Star was not going to return to the show anyways so why not get rid of somebody you don't think will last the contract? For Star to give that "tearful" speech and two seconds later call all the media outlets to let them know she was not ok with the ousting is a betrayal. If it was something that really bothered her she should have had the guts to speak up on the show and say exactly why she wasn't going to return. But now she will never be able to speak her peace and is going to make this into a bigger story to try to gain sympathy for herself. Something I will never give her.

I can't watch this show (damn work), but it seems they had a great mix of ladies - with different opinions and personalities, which made watching it entertaining for many.

I have to say I do not like Star. I'm sure she's not as bad as the media portrays her, but I'm tired of hearing about her and her "gay" husband. Who give a flip? Go cry some where else...you're in Hollywood hon, get a backbone and quit crying to the media.

Rosie could be a nice addition now that she's not the "Queen of nice" anymore.

Oh well, I'll never see the show anyway....

I may not love Star but she certainly less annoying than Elizabeth Hasselback can't stand her. And Joy is just as annoying. I really think the show is winding down. I doubt it will last more than two more seasons and Rosie and Joy on the same show. If Joy hated Star her and Rosie certainly won't get along. There is room for only one loud obnoxious person or it will be chaos.

They really did Star dirty. How many of you would stay at a job knowing you were going to be fired in a few weeks. I wouldn't I would def be out of there on the first thing smoking. Especially if it didn't affect my severance pay.
