I kill almost any plant that I touch. True story, I killed a fake tree by no realizing it was freeze dried and watering it while I house sat causing it to get mold. It's gotten so bad that my local nursery has a "Wanted" poster of me. However, when it comes to succulents, I have a green thumb -- I don't know how or why, but succulents "get me" and for that I am thankful.
I recently restyled by living room coffee table and wanted to create a small vignette using some leftover succulents I had from a container gardening project. Inspiration struck at Home Goods where I spotted three marble bathroom containers of varying heights that I thought would make perfect pots. Their creamy color and shapes would contrast nicely with the angular qualities of the succulents.
I prepped the pots with a thin layer of gravel for drainage and a tiny bit of charcoal since the pots don't drain. A layer of soil and the succulent were added to the pots. As mentioned, the containers don't have drainage holes which I think is fine since the plants I used don't need much water.
I love how the trio turned out! At less than $30 for the containers & plants, it was the perfect quick plant project that I am pretty sure even I will be able to maintain.
