It was a city outing for Tom and Suri Cruise in NYC yesterday afternoon. They both hit the Big Apple streets, while mom Katie Holmes was busy promoting Artistry on Ice in China. Tom was back on the East Coast following a busy weekend that included stops in LA and London to premiere Rock of Ages with his costars.

He's staying put in Manhattan since he'll be honored by the Friars Club with its Entertainment Icon Award this evening. The event will take place at the Waldorf-Astoria and will mark only the fourth time that the honor has been given out, putting Tom among Hollywood stars Douglas Fairbanks, Cary Grant, and Frank Sinatra.
