I know this can sound insensitive but I don't understand how people can split up after 20, 30 years together. What the hell can you have just found out that you didn't know about the person 15 years ago? I was think the same thing about Beyonce's parents who just split up after 30 years. It's really sad since they probably will never have that much time with another person for the rest of their lives.

well - i'm sure that it's not a matter of splitting because of each other since after 23 years you pretty much know all about the other person but maybe about careers getting in the way or something like that. i don't know. it's sad to hear that they are splitting up though.

Sometimes they stay together until the kids were out of the house, or maybe infidelity played a part. Some people probably stayed together for financial reasons and just didn't feel it was necessary anymore. There are many reasons why people would split up after many years.

it happens. people grow apart. they go down different paths and realize after a while that they no longer enjoy the company of their spouse. it's not that shocking. what's worse is to stay together for some fake reason like "commitment"

This is a long time coming...she is OLD. He is old, too, but she is in her 60's and a younger man can only hang in so long. Right or wrong, older woman/younger man relationships will almost never last into the senior years for both partners. I've got no beef with Susan, but it's just the truth. No guy wants to sleep with a woman who has the body of his mother. And plastic surgery will never help. I'm 37 and my girlfriend is 29. Tim will end up with the same thing...a younger woman. It's what every man wants and craves. That's just how it is.

This is too bad - for whatever reason. It is nice to see celebrity couples who are together longer term because it is so not the norm.
