I've built many a fort in my day, be it as a kid with siblings and friends, or recently, helping younger cousins. Each time, the design took on a new form, but mine never looked as pretty and ethereal as Graham's daughters' tent in The Holiday. Yes, "building forts is for kids," but does it have to be? I wouldn't mind having one of these; they're so fun! I recently discovered that a couple of my friends had never built a fort (or tent), and I felt sorry for them . . . poor things. Have you built one?
Would You Swap Houses to Save on Hotel Expenses?
House swapping was never something that crossed my mind until I watched Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet merrily swap abodes in The Holiday. Cameron's character (Amanda) got to stay in a cozy English home while Kate's character (Iris) spent a week in a decked-out Los Angeles pad, and in the end everyone got exactly what they wanted. I made a mental note to peruse Craigslist to see what was out there the next time I traveled, but the fact is the idea hadn't come up again until I read an interesting article from Budget Travel.
Frequent traveler Joanna Goddard is a big proponent of home swapping; she's exchanged her Manhattan apartment for stays in other people's homes all over the world. She and her traveling partners have been able to stay for free in often expensive cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Paris, and more. Joanna admits that, at first, it was difficult to imagine other people using her towels and sleeping in her bed, but once she became friendly with them over email she became comfortable with the idea.
Would you ever consider checking out the Housing Swap section on Craigslist instead of searching for a hotel deal?
Picture Perfect Tech: Laptop From The Holiday
In The Holiday Iris, played by Kate Winslet, uses her Sony VAIO to escape heartache by partaking in a house-swap with California native Amanda, played by Cameron Diaz. Winslet effortlessly finds a home exchange website and is instantly connected to Diaz via IM chat, where they finalize details. If only all break-ups were that easy!
Winslet's sleek silver FE Series Vaio is a high performance mobile media center PC. It has a 15.4 inch widescreen display with HiColor LCD technology for rich and vibrant multimedia playback. Pricing starts at $ 1,300.
Jude & Cameron Still on Holiday
Cameron and Jude hooked back up this week in Tokyo to promote the release of The Holiday in Japan. The movie, which was also released on DVD yesterday here in the states (so be sure to add it on your Netflix!), is all about love - which just happened to be the topic of conversation when Cammie and Jude got together this week. Neither have had much luck with relationships lately but that doesn't mean they've given up. Both are still very much in the game. Here are highlights:

- Cameron Diaz is "open" about new encounters, she told reporters in Tokyo on Wednesday, saying "I want somebody to come and show me what he's got."
- "You just gotta do it," Diaz said. "You just gotta get out there and seek those things out for yourself. Life is definitely a roller-coaster, it's an adventure and it's just all about how you participate in it, if you choose to participate in it, and about going out there and having a good time and good things come to you."
- Law, meanwhile, advised taking a hint from their movie...."I think you've got to make change, look in yourself, fall in love with yourself and people will fall in love with you."
Ahh Jude, we were just starting to wonder if you'd lost your charm! If only he would stop hanging out with young party girls! As for Cameron, she's obviously having a fun time playing the field, and looking super cute while she's doing it!

Casino Royale
Picking up where many Bond movies left off — including a 1967 spoof of the same name — Daniel Craig reinvents Bond as we know him, creating a sort of everyman hero. Sure, he's still smart and handsome, but he's also got a temper, is often klutzy, and at times makes poor decisions. Yet this only makes you root more for the gruff British spy with a "license to kill." Eva Green makes for a refreshingly unlikely Bond girl, while Judi Dench plays the tough, witty M. It's dark, funny and thrilling all at once. For a more in-depth view, check out my full review of Casino Royale.

Celebrity Style: Gisele Bündchen

Check out Gisele Bündchen braving the below freezing weather in New York City last weekend. Her natural winter flush gives her just the right amount of color on her cheeks and lips, making her as stunning as ever for a quick stroll with her three dogs. This supermodel sure knows her high fashion, sporting the same Miu Miu Shearling coat that Cameron Diaz rocked in the fab movie The Holiday.

Cameron Scared of Super-Skinny Celebs
Cameron may be too big to do ads here in the states, but not in Japan. Here's some of her ads for SoftBank Mobile in Tokyo. Whether Cameron is acting or modeling, she is very conscientious of her image. And she understands that as a celebrity, she is a role model for a lot of young fans. She agrees with her The Holiday co-star Kate Winslet that the super-skinny trend needs to be stopped. Here's more:
"I think it's terrifying, it's tragic and sad. I think that it's a sickness, something that's going on in someone's head where their perspective is off. We get ideals from images that we see and there certainly should be more responsibility put on those people who are putting those images out into the world. Let's be a little bit more responsible to what's realistic. I'm a skinny girl, so all my life all I have ever wanted to be is curvaceous and voluptuous, have everything falling out everywhere. Some people... their perception and their perspective is completely askew."
Cameron is naturally skinny so she's just lucky she doesn't have the pressure to be thin. However, it's a good thing that celebrities continue to speak out about the unhealthy, underfed look. Hopefully it will be a thing of the past very soon. For more pics of Cammie's ad campaign just read more
Cameron's Bad Paparazzi Pics
Cameron is back in the states after promoting The Holiday in London last week. The film came in at number 3 this weekend at the box office with almost $13 million in sales. It was up against Mel Gibson's Apocalypto and those super cute computer generated penguins. Cameron has been known to feud with the paparazzi but it looks like she is coming to terms with how to deal with them. She says:

There was a period of time where the paparazzi were really, really aggressive 24 hours a day and we couldn’t live our lives—literally could not go anywhere without being attacked my 20 people. Even though we’re celebrities, we’re still human. We have a right to be protected as well. The funny thing is that all of our kicking and screaming somehow has actually worked, so I don’t give a shit. Because they have backed off. They’ve pretty much vowed not to print any picture of me other than a terrible one. So now I just smile and wave at them, and you never see pictures of me anymore, because they only want to sell the photos where I look haggard. [Laughs] They really do hate me. But as long as they stay away from me, they can hate me all they want.
Yikes - sounds like she still has issues. Can't really blame her but there is no escaping the paparazzi when you are an actress who also happens to be dating JT. For more pics of Cameron just read more
