Hilary Duff appeared on The View today, and spoke about 1-year-old Luca, and how motherhood has changed her. She credited Luca's arrival with boosting her confidence, and said what an incredible feeling it is to have the intuition to be able to care for a little person. When asked why she opted not to profit from Luca's first photos like many celebs do, she said she just didn't think it was the right way to start things off for her new arrival.
Matthew McConaughey dropped by The View in NYC today to promote his new film, Mud, but things took a different turn when he began to open up about his life with longtime love Camila Alves. He talked about their nontraditional wedding last year, which featured guests sleeping in tents, and shared how Camila challenges him in their relationship. He said, "She really pushes me to be more me." Matthew also opened up about how Camila has supported him through his hectic work schedule, particularly when he was looking to take on several movie roles in a row. Mitt Romney didn't join his wife on The View today, but she was happy to explain how Mitt's position on abortion has evolved from pro-choice as Massachusetts governor to pro-life today (if you want to have Mitt explain, read his pro-life pledge). Barbara Walters also asked Ann for her views, with Ann responding: "The good news is I'm not running for office and I don't have to say what I feel. But I am pro-life. I'm happy to say that." Ann's position also may have changed over the years, considering she cut a check to Planned Parenthood back in 1994. Watch her talk about the life/choice issue on The View now.

On The View today, First Lady Michelle Obama gave an intimate glimpse into her relationship with her husband of 20 years, President Barack Obama, and their family life in the White House. In the interview, she shares a supersweet tradition she and Barack have that takes place in their bedroom every night, and she dishes on which one is the teaser in the relationship and which one gets teased. President Obama came on The View today to talk hot topics, specifically gay marriage. The ladies on the show made for supportive hosts, as even the most conservative of the bunch, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, has voiced support for equal marriage rights in the past. Even so, Elisabeth challenged the president to explain how his position of letting the states define marriage differs from Mitt Romney's. She said, "at this point, you both said leave it to the states to decide." Obama was ready to respond, saying, "Elisabeth, that's actually not true," pointing out that Mitt Romney favors a federal constitutional amendment that would define marriage as between a man and a woman. In January 2011, Food Network host Paula Deen appeared on The View to promote her new children's cookbook. Those who caught it know that it wasn't pretty to watch. Put the sassy Paula Deen and the straight-laced Barbara Walters together, and you get an uncomfortable dynamic.
As the ladies of The View sit behind a stupendous spread of fried chicken and other Southern comforts, Paula licks strawberry cake off her fingers and pictures of macaroni and cheese grace the background. Walters then forces the queen of Southern cuisine to answer a rather serious question:
This is a cookbook for kids. Obesity is the number one problem for kids today. Everything you have here is enormously fattening. You tell kids to have cheesecake for breakfast . . . Does it bother you that you are adding to it? No? Not at all?
Stunned, Deen bumbles something about moderation — "you know, we don't eat this every day" — to an unconvinced Walters.

Today on The View, Diane Keaton talked about her new book Then Again and divulged details of her relationships with high-profile Hollywood men like Warren Beatty, Al Pacino, and Woody Allen. Barbara expressed that in each of these romantic endeavors, it seemed that things "just sort of fizzled out." Keaton's response? "I always called them my unattainable greats. They were too great." Diane also explained that she wasn't sure "how to be practical with men." Parts of this interview slightly boggled my mind; does anyone really know "how to be practical with men?"
