Just about everyone who is anyone put on their finest and strutted down the red carpet at last night's Costume Institute Gala at the Met in NYC. It did not disappoint! From Tom and Katie to the Olsens to J Lo to Clooney — once again, it proved to be the most fabulous guest list of the year. The theme of the night was "Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy" which was also the theme of the exhibit unveiled and left the designers a lot of room to play when dressing their celebrities of choice.
I think the most fun theme-appropriate dress has to go to Christina Ricci while Diane Kruger's playful number was an all around favorite. Other highlights of course include Tom Cruise and a playful, colorful Katie Holmes and the always glamorous Beckhams. Scarlett flashed her new engagement ring on the arms of Dolce & Gabbana. Of course, love seeing the Olsens — both in Diane von Furstenberg, but two totally different looks. The hosts of the night were Julia Roberts and George Clooney, though while Danny Moder stayed at home Sarah Larson was happily on her man's arm. With a guest list of that magnitude, how much fun! Oh to be a fly on that wall — we can't wait to hear what went down inside the party!

Sorry Pop but I don't think Tom & Katie were highlights - her dress is just tragic and her make-up looks way overdone too.
Hilary Duff's dress was a disappointment - somehow expected better from her
I think Julia Roberts looked stunning and very classy. Also liked Gisele, Diane Kruger, Naomi Watts & Eva Mendes
4Not too impressed either, if I had to choose I would have to say Ivanka Trump.
Eva Longoria looks like a cake topper I had on my 15th birthday.

6SMG was a snoozefest and Bils was a total disappoint!

8Best Dressed - Christy Turlington. I have to say I was fairly unimpressed with the majority....
9I like Scar-Jo's engagement ring although I am not a fan of round diamonds...everyone looked nice so no complaints

11I thought the same thing! Joey and Pacey in the same room! OMG! Finally Katie is with someone who she doesn't tower over. I wonder if Joshua would roll his eyes if Katie used the word "magical" or "amazing". He would probably says, "What happened to you, Holmes!?" Gosh, I love those two!
12Best dressed: Christina Ricci. I think she looks way too much like Johnny Depp's wife, and I think that is intentionally, but she looked good!
Christina Ricci's dress is fabulous. She picked up the theme without looking costume-y, and I love love love the star on the back.

20I liked that so many people actually went a little out of their comfort zones. Yes, some of them were pretty, but it's a costume gala... it's not supposed to be "pretty", it's supposed to be edgy and fun.
21I really thought Katie Holmes looked great- she had fun with the theme and I love that. Her and Christina Ricci were my favorite. If Eva Longorias dress would have been on someone else, that would have been my favorite. Im hateful
