She looked great but the voice over dub and lip synching was wretched. It seemed so odd and contrived. Almost like Britney Spears when she was wasted at the mtv awards last year.

i'm so disappointed by the choregraphy. She looked beautiful but it seemed like she was just walking here and there. I'm sure she could have done better if they gave her a better choregraphy

I dont think she is a really good dancer... Actually she didnt dance at all! I agree with shaima, she only walked here and there... I was expecting something so much better

I thought it was good overall, and I'm not even a huge fan of hers.

She is WAY OUT OF HER ELEMENT.
Now 10 year old daughter and my 7 year oldcan dance.
They both go to a liberal arts school.
They take 4 different types of dance classes 4 times a week.
It did not even look like dancing or walking.
All she did was slide her feet.
With a dance-off she would have been served by small children who are actually taking dance classes from someone who used to dance porfessionally.
My 2 children recieved 4 DaVinci Awards for a liberal arts school. They also got trophies from their private dance teacher for being acomplished dancers

Very underwhelmed considering the hype prior to this show. She just has zero charisma. It's kind of sad actually.

she indeed look having fun, but she didn't dance? she just strut strut pose pose. and the whole completely obvious lip syncing ...i thought she was going to dance.

as many times as she was seen leaving the dance studio, you'd think she'd have done more dancing...she should stick to acting. or actually maybe she should just stick to raising suri.

Wow that was so horribly bad I'm glad I didn't watch the actual show. I think she's going to look back at this tonight and cringe.

Leave it. While the male dancers were great and Katie did sing well, her dancing was underwhelming; especially with all the hype from her studio time & remarks from Nigel & Tyce.

Some are quick to judge and hate and have this all high ridiculous standards on Katie and Tom because they are simply the best. Major props to them for enjoying what they do and doing something to make a difference for this charity.
Some of you even do nothing but just type away in hate and misery. Katie visits the dancing studio not just to show off but to enjoy,support Suri who also has dancing lessons.
Even in Australia she's still seen at a dancing studio.
Its hard to top a classic performance by Judy Garland but then again very few do and Katie was outstanding.

what was she thinking? any high school cheerleader or dance squad member could dance circles around her. how was the ass kiss saying her performance was oscar worthy? anyone remember, it was last week.

What a cool classy performance and program but it was too short and the 100th eppy should have been 2 hours with so many things going on. Face it the network and those around it hyped it up for ratings. Most fell for it and even posting on various boards. Katie is watercooler buzz and brings free publicity.

It showed the side of her that she has some sex appeal not just a tommy wife, other than that there is no much to say really.

Hate and mock all you want but she was awesome. Like the Oscar performances by Beyonce and those HS and Mamamia kids were unforgettable whey they're not. Till this day only the solo performances by Jackman and Billy Crystal were standouts while the rest go downhill. The Tony's are even better than the Oscar's lately and a simple TV tribute from Katie was pretty good.

ugh ... they talked up her dance so much I thought she'd do something more than wiggle her hips and walk across the stage. Her backup dancers were doing more than her!

the voice was amazing, although im pretty sure that's not her real voice. her dancing was a little lame considering that this was a real competitive dance show. however, she looks AMAZING! i wish i could have those legs after a baby!

I dont watch the show but i did for Holmes. She looks hot and what an old school talent. She's bringing real old glorious Hollywood back.

@ ciaobella its Katie's voice. Ive seen her sing in Dawson's creek,Eli Stone and years back hosting SNL.
Rosie O'Donnell even made her sing live on her show before.
Her E bio and Diane Sawyer when she promoted her movie back then showed her singing at Notre Dame that Damn Yankees song.

@labyrinth oh i think i worded that badly. when i said not her real voice i meant that it has been altered slightly in the studios. i'm sure her voice sounds like that on a good day, but not expected for a live show

First of all it was billed that she would actually be on the SYTYCD stage to perform. Obviously that didn't happen. Second, she was lip-syncing--badly. Third, she didn't really dance. She let a bunch of non-descript guys in suits carry her around stage while she pretended to be sexier than she actually is. Other than these points it was a wonderful performance!

It was kind of meh but not as bad as I was expecting. She certainly sang (lip-synched) much better than that horrid rendition of On My Own that she did back in her Dawson days.

I LOVE IT, PLEASE YOU HAVE TO LIVE KATIE IN PEACE. SHE IS HAPPY AND SHE DOES THAT SHE LIKE, ALL YOU CAN DO THE SAME THING.

It was neither horrible or spectacular.

I am however very glad to see her do this. It seems as though ever since she got with Tom, she has become Tom Cruises wife, not Katie Holmes...its like she has lost her identity, at least through my eyes as a fan. I was glad to see Katie Holmes return when she did this.

Its pure ratings stunt and it worked. It was for a charity and imitating Judy Garland and what did you expect the Olympics and Circus De Soleil? She was super from her looks,the legs,hair,singing,dancing,you name it.
Come on its not like the Oscars,Emmys and Grammys,MTV are out of this world performances these days. They all pale from the past.

The lip synching was weird. And she didn't even dance - just strutted around the stage. And I hate being negative so I'll include that she has killer legs. lol.

i mean don't get me wrong I'm glad she's breaking out/away from what we know her as but if you're going to do a Broadway number you've got to slam it and she was too soft for my taste

Katie visiting the dance studios is not just for SYTYCD. She loves dancing and will do visits to the studios regularly and little Suri is now a little dancer too.
Same way Katie loves singing,running,sports,her coffee,cupcakes and shopping et al.
I will not be surprise she will do a musical in the near future. ITA with other fans Im glad Katie is spreading her wings,expanding her resume and also back on the bigscreen.

I love to see the haters here sing and dance and make a difference.Not many actresses can even do what Katie does with the whole world watching your every move and judging like she's perfect. Look at Pres. Obama all the hype and over the top standards and he can't deliver.

I thought that was super fun and energetic. you could totally see she was loving every minute of it. her voice isn't super high quality but it was pleasant to hear and her enthusiasm over came anything else. i kept seeing joey potter in the last portion especially her little grin at the end. i don't understand her and tom's relationship or religion but if they are happy and doing what they love don't judge. those glass houses break very easily.

Great way to dance for Dizzy Feet Foundation. Oh how the years go by with this 100th episode. Now Im getting Happy too.

hey after all the effort. I think katie did a good job.
she's not known to be a dancer (as far as I know) but then she gave it a go.

She brought her A-game and she rocked. Blame fox and the showrunners for overhyping this. Nothing new from TV especially during sweeps. Katie looks so sexy and Im nostalgic because as she matures I also feel old.

Eh, she still looks like Tom's puppet. I don't normally miss actor's old characters, but I wish she was a sweet girl-next-door type again, instead of trying to pull off crap like this.

I didn't think she did much dancing and I didn't like her singing. I had higher hopes for a show with such amazing dancing.

Beautiful from head to toe and solid from beginning to end.

Clearly some here have not even seen the original Judy Garland movie when the routine is quite simple so Im shaking my head what some of you really are so whiny and cruel. Cry about the world's recession and wars not over Katie.

What a huge insult to all the real and very talented dancers out there! Celebrity stunt-casting at its worst. This is a person who has done nothing very noteworthy in her career except marry an A-list actor. Her TV show was a sappy teen soap opera joke and almost every one of her movies bombed. She is NOT a dancer and clearly undeserving of all the hype.

To answer the question of 'so you think you can dance' is it so wrong to expect someone to actually DANCE?!

She looked great, but it was uncomfortable for me to watch. In fact, I couldn't watch the whole thing. Why in the world would SYTYCD get Katie Holmes, instead of someone who is actually a talented singer and dancer? It was weird.
