DJ AM's final project, his documentary series Gone Too Far premieres tonight on MTV. There was some debate over whether MTV should air the show after DJ AM's death over the Summer, but at the blessing of his family the eight part series will go on. Buzz has a heart wrenching preview of what we can expect as we see Adam help young drug addicts, which ultimately in part led him back down a path to his own accidental drug overdose. MTV has always tried to make a name for itself airing edgy and real life shows, but this one seems like it will be particularly difficult to watch considering the grave outcome. So tell us, will you be tuning in to watch DJ AM's Gone to Far tonight?

WOW .. I am really shocked to see some people can talk crap and someone that's passed, no matter what the circumstances were. That's really disrespectful and sad to see. I am watching this show and I am glad MTV and his family decided to air it. If it can help anyone overcome their battles with addiction. RIP DJ AM .. Sorry to those that judge, no one is perfect. XO

I didn't catch the premiere of Gone Too Far but I watched the replay tonight. I think it's great that he tried to help people overcome their addiction. Addicts are more likely to open up to someone who has actually been in there shoes. Thanks to DJ AM's family for giving permission for the show to be aired. As far as his relapse and overdose...It really saddens me that he died this way but addiction is a disease that you must deal with your entire life. To those of you who are mouthing about him using the whole time...how do you know? Were you scoring the dope for him? No one knows the truth except Adam and sadly he is no longer with us. I hope that this show can reach out and help people who need it most. And by the way, he was famous before the show idiots! RIP DJ AM

Actually it is VERY hypocritical of him.. Here he is doing a show telling kids " dont do drugs, ive been down that road" "im clean sober, BLAH BLAH"... They barely wrapped the show up a couple months before he passed then he dies of a accidental drug overdose. He had a crack pipe? I mean c'mon. Them airing the show and knowing how he died is stupid. Its like telling all those kids he helped get sober that its ok to relapse. I doubt he ever really was sober. Im sure he did it from time to time (crack/heroin) whatever but Im sure his binge on prescribed pill was frequent. He took them cause the fear of flying, which he did very often.

yeah like I still enjoy some pot so I'm the last to watch something like this but more to the ironic point of how his life ended...don't need to hear him tell someone else about getting through the fog...poor guy

I am not an addict but I am really touched when a person gets that second CHANCE to make something of there lives just because you have you life right for this moment you don't know what tomorrow is going to bring. I am fine today Yahweh willing I will not be in that predicament. But I still like watching show like this that give people second chances. Even though some of them don't stay sober BUT ALOT of them do and recover there lives back!!!!!!!!!!!

DJ AM was a no talent druggie loser. I love how everyone talks about how he was "clean" for years then relapsed. How do they know he wasn't using that whole time? One less worthless sack of crap on the planet. No great loss.

his final work? He spun records of other people's work..I mean come-on...he wasn 't a genius, he just had an ear of what sounds good..and most of us have that.. he was a hypocrite in that he tried to make a name and money off of other drug addicts offering them a story of winning, when in the end it wasn't that at all..he was still using and still getting high...honestly most of hollywood is screwed up, yet people still glamorize these losers...if they had to work and contribute to the human race they just couldn't. JUst another common name that people won't remember in a few yrs because he's no longer around..by HIS OWN HANDS. It's a choice and too bad Hollywood makes it look cool to do drugs...it ruins your life and your brain is never the same...

I will not be watching because I do not appreciate how the media and our culture glamorizes drug overdose deaths. While many talented people have died from drug overdoses, this particular type of death seems to instantly elevate these celebs to "icon" status. Although I do love Marilyn Monroe, her death is a prime example of this. As is Elvis, Michael Jackson, Chris Farley, Jim Belushi, Jim Morrison, Jimmi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Heath Ledger...the list goes on and on. It's like if you die because you can't cope with your problems and use illegal narcotics to escape them you are an American hero. It's sad when anyone dies, but I don't undersand the American public's fascination with putting drug abusers on a pedestal.

Nasz, it's not hypocritical because he died, drugs kill people and it's often a lifelong battle to stay clean, someimes peppered with relapses. He had a period of sobriety during which he tried to help others that were in the position he had once been in. Then he relapsed. It doesn't mean he still didn't want other young drug addicts to get clean. It's MORE important now that he has died that MTV air this. It's difficult for young people to think "if I do this line of coke, it could turn into a thousand and it could stop my heart." I'm glad they're showing this. It's heartbreaking that he died but while he was clean he was doing good work trying to help people.

I pray for him but not interested. Bottom line: seek help and dont do drugs. No matter how the media softens him up also Jackson and Ledger they were self-destructive people who hurt themselves.
