The cast of Star Trek has been busy promoting the new film all over the world, and today the crew headed to a photo call in Madrid. Zoe Saldana was a splash of beauty among her handsome costars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Eric Bana. The movie doesn't hit theaters for another three weeks, so we can expect to see and hear more from the beautiful cast as they gear up for their potential Spring blockbuster.

It was an insane — not to mention insanely fun — weekend at WonderCon here in San Francisco. I already reported back on the exciting Watchmen panel, and now I'm giving the lowdown on the panels I attended for Star Trek and Terminator Salvation. Reese Witherspoon took the stage at the Beat the Odds Awards sponsored by The Children's Defense Fund, joined by a handful of other celebs in LA Thursday night. She's been busy promoting Four Christmases but it must have been nice to take a break and start getting into the spirit of giving back. Her romantic comedy has been a hit at the box office so far, proving that Reese deserves her spot as the third highest paid actress in Hollywood. She's down two slots from taking the title last year, thanks to Angelina at No. 1 and Julia Roberts at No. 2, but having a hit movie at the end of 2008 sounds like the perfect way to climb back to the top next year.

Two out of GQ's four cover boy Men of the Year came out to celebrate at the Chateau Marmont in LA last night. Jon Hamm and Leonardo DiCaprio both lived up to their steamy covers while Michael Phelps and Barack Obama (surprise) couldn't make it to the red carpet. Obsession of the year Megan Fox looked hot in pink and kept her boyfriend Brian Austin Green close for photos. Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel still don't want to define their relationship, but things seem very on again for this duo. January Jones looked glamorous as ever posing without her on-screen Mad Men husband Don Draper, but if the second season of the show taught us anything it's that Betty is just fine by herself. The party may have been about the men of the year, but the women held their own before heading in for a night of fun.

"The wait is over." I wonder if J.J. Abrams was feeling cheeky when he made those the final words in this first full-length trailer for Star Trek, which premiered over the weekend before screenings of Quantum of Solace. The last thing we saw was a teaser all the way back in January, and it's been radio silence since then.
So, here we are: our first look at a young James Tiberius Kirk and the others in this quick, action-packed promo. By action-packed, I mean that a lot of things blow up, and there's some punching and some sex (but not in the same scene). And Zachary Quinto looks just as awesome as Spock as I'd hoped he would. This week's Heroes starts with Mohinder going on about how "in every journey, the traveler must ask, 'what's the right path taken?'" We get more of the same ol' themes of heroes vs. villains, choosing good over evil, etc. etc. My favorite part of this episode is when Parkman verbally high-fives his turtle.

This week we got some daddy-daughter issues, a little mother-son drama, and the appearance of yet another member of the Petrelli family (and a powerful one, at that). In this week's episode of Heroes, we alternate between the present day and four years in the future, discovering what will apparently happen unless certain heroes take some action in the present day, stat. This version of the future is bizarre (especially Sylar's story!) and scary (cold-hearted gangster Claire). It will be interesting to see when/if/how it can be avoided. Hayden Panettiere was back in activist mode last night to host a bash for Declare Yourself. The event brought out stars like Emily VanCamp, Zachary Quinto, and Danity Kane, but it looks like Jessica Alba and her slightly scary PSA skipped this one in favor of bikini time. Hayden took the stage to make a speech, though she was more low-key when asked who she'll be casting her ballot for on Nov. 5. She simply said, "I'm a Democrat, so . . . " The election is only a little more than a month away, but while we're waiting to change the world, we can watch Hayden's alter ego doing her part on Heroes, which is one of our 15 shows to watch now.
