Zooey Deschanel Gets Sporty in Stripes on the Set of New Girl
Zooey Deschanel went to work on the set of New Girl in Beverly Hills yesterday, then picked up where she left off today. The actress reprised her role as Jess for the Fox hit wearing a bright pink cape with a striped blouse, then ditched the top layer for a game of football. Zooey was on set last week as well, working hard even on her 33rd birthday. Despite not receiving any nominations at the upcoming SAG Awards, Zooey has still had plenty to celebrate. At the Golden Globes, where she was a nominee, Zooey wore an Oscar de la Renta gown and caught attention for her signature nail art. She's making headlines as well for recently sharing that fans can expect to see the return of the New Girl drinking game in season two.
Elizabeth Banks, Colin Farrell, Zooey Deschanel, and More Stars on Set
A busy award season hasn't slowed down the Hollywood stars who spent this week hard at work on set. In NYC, Jennifer Connelly spent a day working on Winter's Tale with her daughter, Agnes Lark Bettany, by her side, while Colin Farrell took center stage on the same set later in the week. In LA, Elizabeth Banks brightened up the set of Walk of Shame in an all-yellow ensemble, and things got intensely funny on the set of New Girl in a scene with Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, and Jake Johnson. Who's That Girl (With the Charming Fit and Flare Dresses)? It's Zooey!
If there's one thing we can always celebrate about (not to mention, attribute to) Zooey Deschanel, it's her commitment to a great retro dress shape. And today, we're celebrating with a look back at her best fit and flare moments in honor of the New Girl actress's 33rd birthday! While she may be the queen of quirk on TV, she has also simultaneously managed to cultivate her own signature brand of style, distinctly defined by nostalgia, throwback silhouettes, and Old Hollywood glamour. For the more formal red-carpet festivities, Zooey's been known to wear voluminous princess-worthy gowns from the likes of Reem Acra and Oscar de la Renta, but for most other occasions, she remains the reigning master of the fit and flare dress. We've seen her don countless iterations — from an edgier Carven cutout dress to a sweeter floral-printed Naeem Khan version — so she has accrued quite the retro-inspired lineup. See how she's nailed the look in our gallery, and here's to more in the year to come. Happy birthday, Zooey Deschanel!
