If you have a regular fitness routine, you may prefer alternating between days of cardio and days of strength training. On your strength training days, don't just jump right into your squats and lateral raises. Do a little cardio before you lift. Warm up for five minutes of easy cardio such as speed walking or jogging, and ramp up your pace for another five minutes with running, biking, or jumping rope. It's just enough to get your blood flowing and your heart rate up, and will also warm your muscles and tendons. This increases your muscles’ elasticity, allowing you to endure a longer workout, and prevent injury.
The Proposal was a massive box office success in the US, and it's heading to our shores on 22 July. The romantic comedy stars Sandra Bullock as a publishing executive who discovers she's under threat of being deported back to Canada. Step in her assistant Ryan Reynolds, whom she convinces to marry her by offering him a promotion: they just have to convince everyone else they're in love. Watch the trailer and tell me: will you see or skip it?
Trail running in the woods is one of my favorite ways to work out for so many reasons. It's peaceful, all those hills are great for my quads and booty, the shade is cooler and protects me from UV rays, and the soft dirt is easy on my joints. If you love trail running, too, here are some things to think about:
Harder to spot than curbs, tree roots and rocks are a natural part of the trail. Keep your eyes peeled and focused forward, constantly scanning the trail for obstacles.
Strawberries and blueberries are in season now, so stock up and use them to make this delicious yogurt smoothie. The fruit adds natural sweetness, and the Greek yogurt makes it rich and creamy. I like to add almonds to my smoothies because not only do they add fiber and protein, but they give the smoothie an interesting slightly crunchy texture.

While on vacation, I took a little, uh, vacation from my normal skincare routine. Unfortunately, this decision resulted in a mess of a complexion upon my return. I had blackheads galore, and the long flight had left my skin dry and flaky. Nice.
Oh, but when I returned to Sugar HQ, there was a package from Estée Lauder waiting. Inside: a sample of Idealist Dual-Action Refinishing Treatment ($49.50). It's a "skin refinisher," which sounds scary and harsh, but it's surprisingly gentle. When the paste meets damp skin, it warms up. While this heating action doesn't do anything amazing for the skin, it feels good as you rub it on. Five minutes later, the glucosamine and salicylic acid have painlessly nibbled away all of the complexion-dulling dead skin cells. The result: incredibly soft, smoother skin, with smaller-looking pores. One use and my vacation sins were washed away. A little goes a long way, so this is one skincare investment that should last for quite a while.

Classic aviators have been a Summer staple for a long time and are a great way to protect your eyes. This Summer I have noticed a lot of funky styles drawing from a bright colour palette and retro styling.
I love the baby blue frames on these Raybans (£101). I also really like the tortoise shell detail on these Marc Jacobs frames. What kind of sunglasses are you wearing this Summer?
Exercising and eating right go hand-in-hand if you're trying to live a healthy lifestyle, so I must admit that I enjoy shopping for groceries — especially when I can go solo. I love to take my time reading labels, checking out new products, and comparing prices so I get good deals on nutritious foods. For some people though, grocery shopping is an annoying chore so tell me . . .

Hello Kitty has been celebrating its 35th anniversary this year with designer tributes, a make-up collaboration and kitsch accessories. This has now extended to watches with The Black Label, which is a vintage-inspired collection encompassing classic design with fun Hello Kitty designs. Although the cute illustrations are a key part of these pieces, it is quite a grown up collection. The watches are quite chunky with crystal detailing. The white design (below right) is my favourite, what do you think of these funky accessories?
The Black Label is available at boutique stores around the UK. Call here for your nearest stockist 0207 182 4716.
While I was doing research for cool shrugs, I came across this Diesel Black Gold Tiume Feathered Shrug ($450). I know, whoa, right? It's a cool concept, but I can only really see myself rocking it at a super fashiony function. Otherwise, I might be mistaken for an escaped bird. Would you consider wearing this, or is it too much?
Running isn't for everyone. While it makes me feel amazing, it's not so easy on the joints, which prevents some people from enjoying this form of cardio. If an injury has you searching for an alternative that provides similar physical benefits to running, celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak has a wonderfully grueling substitute.
Pasternak has trained celebrities like Alicia Keys, Eva Mendes, and Halle Berry, and recently he's been whipping The Fast and the Furious actress Jordana Brewster into fantastic shape. Women's Health interviewed Jordana and got the scoop about her workouts, learning that she likes having a routine "because everything else . . . is so unpredictable." She shared her routine with WH and said,
I do cardio six days a week, with weight resistance in between. I also work with [celebrity trainer] Harley Pasternak three times a week. I used to run, but can't anymore because [it hurts my knees]. But what's just as effective? Putting the treadmill at an incline of 12— that's steep!—and climbing for 30 to 40 minutes.
Sounds like a workout that would definitely work up a sweat. Here's an uphill treadmill hike workout for you to try. Has an injury prevented you from running?
Floral dresses are a key Summer item, so why shouldn't this print extend to swimwear? This Summer why not head to the beach or the pool in this style which is currently all over the High Street. The bright colours are great for relaxing in the sunshine and I have fallen for the charm of vintage prints like Topshop's bikini (£25).
New Look have created a twist on the style with this embroidered halter neck top (£8) which would be good for a sunny festival as well as the beach. See below for more flower design swimwear.

If you haven't heard of Alayna Salter yet, you'll soon be hearing her name everywhere. The Oxford born singer has been likened to Avril Lavigne, and has many strings to her bow. She is still working hard to break in to the world of music, but is also a budding jewellery designer whose pieces have been already been snapped up by Katy Perry, Paris Hilton, Heidi Range, and Gabriella Cilmi. I caught up with her to find out about her jewellery, her style icons and her favourite sweets!

Coleen Rooney caught my eye last month as she holidayed in a gorgeous green Vix bikini. Since then I have noticed many green bikinis which I think are perfect for wearing to the beach or the pool. They come in all shapes and sizes with polka dot prints and patterns.
Toast's halter neck top (£30) is one of my favourites. It should suit most complexions and is a fun style. I also really like Milly's bandeau swimwear (£52.50) which is perfect for boy shaped figures.
Shop my other favourite teeny green bikini's below!

When your mom told you stand up straight, you probably had no idea that she was also helping your running technique. Running efficiently and pain free has a lot to do with your posture. Keep your head in line with your spine, your shoulders relaxed, and your torso over your hips. A simple way to stack all these body parts one on top of the other is to gaze naturally at the horizon as you move forward. Adjust your eyes and chin so they are parallel with your body. It's tempting to look down at the ground or gaze at the peak of an upcoming hill, but this can overstretch your neck and cause your shoulders to hunch up toward your ears. Not only will gazing at the horizon prevent pain during and after your run, but it'll also make your workout easier.
Summer is here. Are you ready? In addition to applying a higher SPF sunblock (which I hope we all do anyway!), do you make any other routine changes in warmer weather? Personally, I'm all about extra moisturizer — especially chilled lotion — to eliminate ashy skin for shorts and sundresses. From packing the Sun-In to painting your sandal-bound toes, share any changes in the comments below.
Creamy eyeliners are perfect for soft, smudgy looks, and Clinique’s Cream Shaper For Eyes ($14.50) would be just the ticket for creating that highly sought-after smoked-out effect. Reader Fashion_doll24 calls this product the “best eyeliner so far.” Here’s the scoop:
I have this one in Deep Cobalt, Black Diamond, and a duo in Cocoa Shimmer and Chocolate Luster. I'm a huge fan of them. You can use them for making a very clear-cut line or just dab them on for a more subtle look. Either way, they stay throughout most of the day while being easy to remove. Love them!
What eyeliners are so great, you just have to share them with us? Write up a post on the Product Reviews section, and I might just highlight you on this daily feature.
A cropped, cardigan-like garment with short or long sleeves, typically knitted. It usually covers less of the body than a vest would, but it is more tailored than a shawl. Some shrugs are tied together just below the bustline, while some are cut off at the sides, making them nothing more than a pair of sleeves joined at the back. More recently, shrugs have taken a new direction, coming in all sorts of prints, drapes, and fabrics. They're the perfect Summer cover-up (and oh-so Buffy Summers).

You can increase the flexibility of your spine, abs, shoulders, and hip flexors, all in one move. I picked up this move, the lying T dancer, from American distance runner and Olympic bronze medalist Shalane Flanagan. Start slowly moving from side to side to really feel the stretch, then quicken your pace in order to get your heart rate up.
If you're curious to know how to do this move read more
There's no way that I can even mention polka dot bikinis without recalling the Timmy Mallet song Bombalurina! All together – "An itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini". Reminiscing aside, there are a lot of polka dot bikinis around this Summer which make for fun beachwear.
They come in all shapes and colours too. Obviously you could go for a yellow two piece like the song suggests, but there are also some great styles in many other shades too. For example, I like John Lewis' bandeau bikini or Emporio Armani's red swimwear. See below for more styles to jazz up your Summer wardrobe.
Standing poses not only strengthen your legs, but they make you feel powerful and calm. One of my favorites is Extended Side Angle because it opens the hips and stretches the sides of the body. Here's a variation that involves twisting the torso, so it also opens the chest and shoulders and strengthens your core.
Sanskrit Name: Jathara Utthita Parsvakonasana English Translation: Twisting Extended Side Angle
Walking and running are great workouts for your heart and lower body, and they're also free. So take advantage of the warmer weather and make your workouts even more challenging and workout at the beach. Walking or running on sand burns about 30 percent more calories than you would on a harder surface such as asphalt. Resist walking on the flat sand right at the water's edge and go for the dry sand to make your workout harder. Walk without shoes so you can really use your toes to grip the ground. Walking and running barefoot in the sand is great for the muscles in your feet and your calves, but be careful running on uneven surfaces can increase the risk of sprains, sprains, and tendonitis. Build your running time up slowly and wear supportive shoes. Remember, if your feet get hot, you can always cool off by walking on the wet sand, which is great for exfoliating the dead skin cells from your heels and preventing fissures.

My friend Frank, who's behind the excellent Rappers I Know, has impeccable taste. So when I asked him if he had a celebrity crush, without hesitation, he namechecked Sade. No wonder: at the age of 50, she continues to have one of the silkiest voices and most beautiful faces in music. Born in Nigeria, Helen Folasade Adu moved to England at the age of four. Later, after studying fashion at St. Martin's College, she translated her love of soul artists such as Nina Simone and Marvin Gaye into a singing career.
Her eponymous group enjoyed immense popularity throughout the '80s and early '90s, enjoying hits like "Smooth Operator" and "No Ordinary Love." Her sensual beauty stood out in a sea of highly stylized singers, providing a different version of beauty from the neon-and-teased-bangs trends of the day. Although she's been out of the spotlight for a few years, she's working on a new album, giving Frank (among others) a chance to be inspired by her silken voice and stunning looks once more.
If your kitty's an indoor/outdoor cat, this house is a top-of-the-line way to keep her comfy, no matter what season it is.
The KatKabin DezRez ($100) has a unique oval shape that helps the air circulate around and holes for ventilation. The KatFlap lets kitty in, but keeps the elements out, and the KatKushion (ha) is snuggly for those long nights. I can see this being perfect for feral cats in the area, but would you purchase it for your own pampered pals?
If you like the feel of a matte lipstick, perhaps Sue Devitt Balanced Matte Lipstick ($20) is for you. Reader Watergirl777 had only positive things to say about this lip product, and here’s why.
This lipstick is the best I've had in years! Although it does not advertise to be long-lasting, it actually lasts a surprisingly long time. It is a beautiful color on any skin tone. It is absolutely wonderful.
Have you something to add? Our Product Reviews website is the perfect place to share your opinions on everything from foot scrubs to tweezers. Well, what are you waiting for? Your lipstick awaits.
Makeup isn't just for the face anymore — or at least that's what a few companies would like you to think. Last week we took a look at concealer for your feet, and this time around, it's the My Beautiful Breasts kit ($69) from It Cosmetics. Intended to create the appearance of larger ta-tas, the kit includes waterproof/sweatproof "bust shadows," an awesomely titled Library of Secrets manual, booby primer, setting spray, and brushes for application. It also comes with bust stain, a semi-permanent tint that promises, "No matter how wet or sweaty you get, your breasts aren’t going anywhere!" (Oof, I should hope not.)
Makeup artists use shading and contouring tricks to create the illusion of larger breasts, and It Cosmetics CEO Jamie Kern Lima's background in TV means that she's picked up a few tips and tricks along the way. Still, I can't imagine an occasion when I'd think, "You know what this event calls for? Bust stain." Would you consider getting this kit, or will you stick with a push-up bra?
I'm still dreaming about a Summer home on a fjord. The remote, rugged beauty of the Norwegian fjords is so stunning. What better complement to the landscape than the sleek, modern designs of Saunders Architecture. Take this home, for example. Split in two halves, the home opens up to form an outdoor room, while each building's roof extends to shelter the owners from Summer rains.
Part of my attraction to this home is its simplicity. The real showstopper here is the rocky, piney fjord, and the home's elegant, restrained design lets the natural world shine.

I really love this Garnier formula because it works great at making my area look better and softer. It helps reduce my morning eye puffiness and adds a soft glow to the area to reduce lines. It is great for using at night and feels creamy on, not greasy.

It's easy to make the excuse that you just don't have time to work out, so make it a priority before anything else comes up. This Sunday night, take some time to go over your schedule for the upcoming week and plan some exercise time. Take out your daily planner, or you can print out this free downloadable fitness journal, and write down the days you're going to the gym or to your yoga class. Jot down what afternoons you're planning to walk with your girlfriend at lunch, or when you're going to do a Piloxing DVD in your living room. If you write it down, you're more likely to stick to it and won't let an appointment, errand, or meeting get in the way.

A couple of weeks ago I attended a press day for Philosophy to learn all about the new coconut frosting skin care range. Ever since I discovered Philosophy I can't seem to get enough of its luscious scented, creative, effective and fun products. Cristina, did you know that we both favour the exact same product? These Jimmy Choo Biker Suede Leather Boots ($1,095) have me in a tenacious tizzy. I immediately winced at first glance, but after careful scrutiny, I kinda love the red and black leopard prints and slouchy shape. I'm imagining them with denim leggings and a leather jacket for that musician's girlfriend vibe. Decisions, decisions. Tell me, would you wear these funky boots? Take all of my Love It or Hate It Polls here!
All week I have been sharing with you the most important items you'll need if you're heading to a festival this Summer. Here are my selected items all together so you can create a final check list. What will you be packing this Summer?
Admit it. Somewhere in your parents' home, there is a nude childhood picture of you bathing with your siblings. There used to be a soaking-in-the-tub photo of my sister, the two neighbor kids, and me sitting in a collage displayed near the wood-paneled entryway at our old house. It was really great as a teenager, because I just loved having my adolescent dates see a naked picture of my 3-year-old self. What about you? Did your parents pull the ultimate in multitasking, having you share the bathwater with friends and/or family? And if so, do you have the pictures to prove it?

Whether you're new to yoga or an experienced yogini, practicing yoga is a wonderful way to take care of yourself and your growing little one. Not only will you experience peace and relaxation, but so will your babe. Many gentle types of yoga are appropriate and beneficial during pregnancy, but here are some things you should know if you are expecting . . .
When you become pregnant, talk to your obstetrician or midwife about yoga whether you've been practicing for years or are thinking of starting. They'll most likely give you an enthusiastic "thumbs up," but it's always a good idea to make sure you don't have any health restrictions.
If you've been practicing yoga for a while, it's safe to continue taking the same yoga classes. Just listen to you body, and don't do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. On the other hand, if you're new to both pregnancy and yoga, take a prenatal yoga class instead of a regular one. The instructor will give you more individualized attention, and explain ways to do poses that will be safe for you during pregnancy.
Prenatal yoga classes tend to focus on opening the hips, stretching the lower back, relaxation skills, and pranayama (breath exercises). So just be aware that you may not be moving a ton, but you'll definitely be breathing, and spending a lot of time in Wide Squat and Pigeon. By using and stretching the muscles you'll be needing during birth, you'll essentially be making labor easier.
Drink plenty of water and be sure to get the extra 300 to 500 calories you need during pregnancy.
Let's set the scene: I'm out with a friend for a postwork drink and toss my purse on the empty stool next to us. About 20 minutes later, the place fills up and I see a suited gentleman eying the seat. I pick up my bag, smile apologetically, and turn back to my friend. Easy enough?
That's what I thought, too, but then he sits down and makes some comment about my cute dimples. This wouldn't have been a bad pickup line . . . if I actually had dimples.
Formed by muscles that pull the skin inward at the edges of the mouth, these tiny dents are often complimented by doting parents but scowled at when they appear, years later, elsewhere on the body. Do you have any on your face?
There are plenty of dolls on the market made from eco-friendly materials, but how many help parents teach their tots about the importance of being eco-conscience? The Earth Friends ($64) may be pricey, but they get to the point. The nine boy and girl dolls are made completely from organic and recycled materials. With organic cotton hair, a cotton and hemp blend for skin, organic and recycled cotton clothes and recycled plastic containers for stuffing, the plush toys even come in 100 percent post-consumer-waste recycled cardboard boxes.
Each doll also has a backpack filled with a real Douglas Fir tree planting kit. Instructions explain to budding environmentalists that the tree will create shade and a habitat in the future, helping generations to come. If you love the green theme, but are looking for something a bit more budget friendly, check the other options at various price points.
This is perhaps the best foundation I've used to date. My old favorite was Max Factor's Colour Adapt which was unfortunately discontinued, and I am convinced these two are the same product. The ingredients are almost identical and the two smell the same. I have also found my perfect shade — Classic Ivory. I am about an NC20 in MAC, and the color is match is excellent . . . Once applied, I just use my fingers, and only a small amount is needed. My skin is glowing! The coverage covers up all redness in my skin and any imperfections at all . . I must say this one is hands-down perfection!"
Have you had a favorite product get discontinued only to go on a full-throttle search for a decent replacement? We would love to hear all about it. Head to the Product Reviews section and you just might be the next featured reader on this daily post.
In My Sister's Keeper, young Anna knows that she was genetically engineered and brought into this world in order to serve as a donor for her ailing sister, Kate. Well, My Sister's Keeper was engineered to make people cry — over and over and over again, for two hours. Anna sues her parents for medical emancipation, and by the end of this movie I wanted to file for emotional emancipation.
Anna (played sweetly by Abigail Breslin) was conceived after her parents, Sara (Cameron Diaz) and Brian (Jason Patric), learned that their young daughter Kate (the teenage version played by Sofia Vassilieva) had leukemia and their other child, Jesse (Evan Ellingson), was not a perfect match to be a donor for his sister. Throughout her life Anna has been required to give all sorts of things from her body to help keep Kate alive and now, at the age of 11, Anna finds a lawyer (Alec Baldwin) to sue her parents for medical emancipation. The lawsuit comes at a critical time: Kate's kidneys are failing, and without one of Anna's kidneys, Kate will die — soon. The story unfolds in a series of flashbacks that fill in some blanks about the family's journey up until this point. The flashbacks are interspersed with scenes of the present-day situation as Kate's condition worsens and Sara, a former lawyer, prepares to fight her youngest daughter in court. For more on this terribly sad movie, read more
Show of hands: how many of you really badly wanted this funky Robert Lee Morris for Elizabeth and James Knuckle Ring ($195) but forced yourself to forget it due to the steep price? If you raised, then this is your lucky day, because there is an almost identical version of the ring for less than half the price. Sorry to do this to your business, MK and Ashley!
How far is too far to go? When it comes to my hair, I'm willing to do many things (within reason) to get a style I love, but I'd bet few people take things as far as Curly Bella. She prefers to travel clear across the country for a chop and color. While some stick with a top salon, and trust all employees are well worth the business, others will travel to a new salon, often further away, to meet with the same person as before.
Whether or not you'd be following a favorite stylist across the country or just across town, does your loyalty lie with anyone at a preferred salon or one particular person, no matter what?
Chain stores are great for providing everyday basics, but for special occasions lots of mothers prefer to outfit their offspring in frocks that make a statement. Matilda Ledger has been seen sporting vintage-inspired smocked sundresses, and Sarah Jessica Parker admitted that James Wilkie wears his uncles' and cousins' hand-me-downs. For youngsters seeking simple pieces, Belle Heir Vintage offers those from yesteryear.
Unlike garments relatives stuff into shopping bags and drop at the door, the company offers a variety of classic items featuring hand-stitching, smocking, pin tucks, pleating, embroidery, and button-work from the turn of the century through the 1960s. While the pieces come at an equally pretty price, moms in search of christening, baby naming, and wedding garb for their wee ones might be willing to empty their wallets. For those who like the vintage look, here are additional pieces to ogle.
Balmain is one of the most popular designer names right now. Celebrities like Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, Julia Roitfeld and Beyonce Knowles are just a few of the names who've been spotted in Christophe Decarnin's designs. I recently spotted this quilted leather skirt (£4,705) which is sure to be a sell out Autumn item. I think it looks like the skirt equivalent of a Chanel 2.55 handbag, what do you think of it?
Feeling stressed and frazzled can take a toll on your happiness and overall well-being. Heather Graham makes time in her busy schedule to reconnect with her center every day through transcendental meditation. Director David Lynch turned her on to the technique, which involves repeating a mantra to quiet the mind.
The Hangover star practices this type of meditation because, "It balances you out – it makes you feel a lot less stressed." She complements her daily meditative sessions with yoga, and says that she's "really obsessed" with it for its ability to affect the mental and physical.
Although meditation is a one-woman activity, it can be difficult to get started. If you need a little help getting into the art of quieting your mind, check out my tips on where to begin. Do you meditate?
Most of us don't have a ton of time to spend working out, so we try to cut corners and save time whenever we can. One way may be to zip through your reps when strength training. The problem is, when you do your exercises quickly, momentum becomes the driving force to move you through your reps. This means you're not targeting your muscles as effectively as you would if you just slowed down. So the next time you do your toning routine, pause a few seconds between reps. It'll be more challenging to your muscles, so you may not be able to do as many reps in the same amount of time, but you'll actually be doing a better job at strengthening the muscles you're working.
If you like sweet scents, aka gourmand, here's a real treat for you. Reader RacerWife7 loves the sugary sweetness of Aquolina Pink Sugar Eau de Toilette Natural Spray ($55). It's a bit too candy-shop for me, but it's a popular scent that features notes of cotton candy, strawberry, vanilla, and musk.
To me, this smells like cotton candy. Mmm! It's so good. It's a young scent, really — and I'm not all that young. I just like it. And I've been complimented on it when I wear it. If you don't like sweet-smelling perfume, skip it because that's what this is.
Have any sweet scents to share with us? How about any scents at all? We'd love to hear from you on our Product Reviews website. Who knows. You might just be featured here on this daily post.
Barbie has having quite the year! The stylish doll is celebrating her 50th birthday and to mark the occasion she already had a fashion show in New York and a range of new designer outfits. This week is was announced that Barbie would be getting a Heidi Klum makeover as the Victoria Secret's model was immortalised in plastic as part of the Blonde Ambition Collection. Her doll has now been revealed in this gorgeous sequined mini dress and gold gladiator heels. I think she looks great, but where's the baby bump?
I don't think Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have the word "simple" in their vocabulary. Their Dolce & Gabbana Fall '09 ads are Vegas-style over-the-top, while their latest D&G Fall '09 ad, shot by Mario Testino, is regally grand. Everything is opulent — the luxurious carpet, the decadent bookshelves, the plush sofa. And check out the details on those clothes — stunning. But it's not a shocker, that's how D&G does it. What's your verdict? Are you impressed?
Reese Witherspoon and Paul Rudd worked into the early morning hours today on the set of How Do You Know? in DC. Jake Gyllenhaal was there for another night of moral support, sitting in a director's chair while watching his girlfriend. Reese acted comically upset while filming, but once the cameras stopped rolling, she got to cuddle up to Jake, who was a nice reward for all her hard work.
As if I didn't reiterate it enough, sunscreen should be a daily essential. Horrifying sunburns, anyone? Besides lobster-red tones from head to toe, what would happen to your skin if you skipped the 'screen? I've consulted with Dr. Adrienne Denese, a dermatologist who specializes in antiaging techniques, to find out what measures we can take to prevent skin damage. As expected, SPF is key. "The most important step a young woman needs to take is to use sun protection 365 days a year," Dr. Denese says.
The reason? "Over 90 percent of aging of the skin is sun-induced," she adds. "Nearly everything you do not like about your skin — lines, wrinkles, age spots, sun spots, enlarged pores, red capillaries around the nose, loss of tone, and firmness — all have to do with sun exposure." Plus, don't forget that you can get damage from the sun even when the sun is not visible. "It can be overcast. It can be raining or snowing. The UVA rays are present even under these circumstances, undermining the integrity of your skin," advised Dr. Denese. Lesson learned.
Shia LaBeouf looked like he was in good spirits at LAX on his way to NYC yesterday as his Transformers 2 hit theaters across the country. This morning he's already stopped by Regis and Kelly and The Today Show, where he brought a fan in from the audience to give her the thrill of a lifetime — it really is one of the sweetest interviews, so check it out below. Despite lukewarm reviews — Buzz isn't loving it either — the movie is expected to bring in a good amount at the box office. It even earned $16 million from the Tuesday midnight screenings alone. It may not be a critical success or prominent when award season rolls around, but once again Shia has delivered a big budget blockbuster for the Summer movie season.
It's no secret that Michael Bay loves to put extremely sexy women in his movies. When it comes to the Transformers movies, though, the gratuitous way he shoots Megan Fox seems a bit over-the-top, even for him.
Bay recently told reporters that it's "for the young boys" and Fox says says the treatment of women as sexual objects in film is part of what must be done "if you want to make movies that people want to see."
So does Bay's portrayal of women ever bother you? Or is it just good sexy fun?

The Beckhams, led by leggy Victoria, headed into the airport earlier today, leaving the French Riviera after their reunion vacation together. It's been a good two weeks for David — not only did he get to spend quality time with his boys, but he was also awarded "substantial" libel damages from the Daily Star after it published a false report. Becks is one of your top 10 favorite celebrity dads, and now that it's almost time for him to return to the Galaxy, we'll get the whole family back in LA for more picture perfect family time.
Bradley Cooper paid a visit to a grocery store in LA yesterday before heading out of town on his way to men's fashion week in Paris. He barely even had time to stock his pantry since he's been back in California after promoting The Hangover around the world. The film's success at the box office could pave the way for other big projects in Hollywood, and at the very least it's brought Bradley straight into the dating pool of a major A-List star.
Hey Mickey! Toni Basil made her return to the judging panel for Wednesday's episode of So You Think You Can Dance, and I've got to ask: Do she and Mary Murphy hate each other? They were sitting so far apart at that judging table, you'd think they were Jon and Kate.
But moving on — this episode introduced our first new couple since the start of the season, as Kayla and Kupono joined forces after their partners were eliminated last week. And overall, this night was all about the backside, from Melissa's exposed back in her rumba outfit to Randi's hypnotizing tush to Phillip's ripped pants. Don't forget to vote for which dancers you think are in trouble, and to see my thoughts on the episode and add your own, just read more
Well, that was fast. As reported earlier this week, cosmetics brand DuWop is releasing a Twilight-themed lip plumper — but instead of waiting until the Autumn release of New Moon, it's coming out now. Lip Venom V ($16) is available for pre-order, with packages shipping next week. The package contains a combination lip stain and plumper, all the better to look vampy. According to DuWop:
This product should be shaken before use to represent the blending of the human and vampire worlds and applied repeatedly until lips are plumped, revitalized and the desired intensity of color has been reached.
Oddly, the packaging reminds me less of a bloodsucking dreamboat and more of Angelina Jolie wearing Billy Bob's blood in a vial back in the day. And last time I checked, the blending of the human and vampire worlds resulted in a bloody death. But for the 700 zillion Twihards out there, details like that are unlikely to stop them from buying. Will you be one of them?
I like to think that I'm a generous girl, happy to share whenever a friend is in need. In the past, roommates and I have had a communal hair dryer and a shared toothpaste tube — and we never had any territorial disputes over the shower caddy. And yet, if anyone were even to think about using my Clarisonic, I would hide that thing like Gollum. Nobody touches my Clarisonic! Whether you deal with roommates, family, or a partner, are you keen on sharing most things?
Cameron Diaz struck a sexy pose in white at the red carpet premiere of My Sister's Keeper in NYC last night. Her young costar Abigail Breslin chose a pretty pale pink while Rachel Zoe stuck with her staple drapey black. The movie is out tomorrow and will show us new sides of both Cameron and Abigail's acting abilities. Cameron has taken the lead on much of the publicity for the movie including her stop by Good Morning America yesterday and the unveiling of her star on the walk of fame on Monday. Breslin also got to talk a bit about what it was like to work with Cameron saying, "She kept things fun. She was always cooking us fajitas or Philly cheese steaks. There was a lot of kindness on set. It was very nurturing." Sounds like that hint of maternal instinct isn't so far from real life for Cameron after all.
I've been wanting to give Fernanda the spotlight for a while, but thought hot weather was the more fitting time of year for her. I crushed on Fernanda all throughout college — her heyday was late '90s, early '00s — when the Brazilians had fashion world domination. The sweet-yet-sultry-faced beauty hails from Rio Grande Do Norte and she won the Elite Look of the Year contest at 13. Her bod, sharp brows, and plush lips are unforgettable.
Her repertoire spans runway, editorial, ad campaigns, Victoria's Secret, and Sports Illustrated. I also have fond memories of her Chloe face. Fun fact: she stays in shape by swimming and jogging — on it! For those of us wondering where she is now, Fernanda got married in '07 to a fellow Brazilian but remains buddies with the most successful Brazilian of our time: Gisele. Fernanda will always be my secret star.
I've been watching out for director Richard Kelly's (Donnie Darko) movie The Box for a long time now, and I'm excited to say that while the premise sounds odd/silly, I think this could turn out to be a great film. Cameron Diaz and James Marsden play married couple Norma and Arthur Lewis who have a pretty storybook life but eventually run into money troubles. Cue very creepy music and Frank Langella showing up on their doorstep with a box. He tells them that if they push the button in the box someone they do not know will die and they will receive a lot of money.
Again, it sounds silly but so did a movie about a teenage boy who talks to a bunny rabbit named Frank, and we know how well that turned out (really well). The trailer is weird and creepy, and totally smacks of Richard Kelly. Count me in! The movie will hit theaters Oct. 30. To watch the trailer for yourself, read more
