When Boring C-SPAN2 Panels Go Wrong, and Get Good

I was kicking back watching C-SPAN2 recently, as I often do — no, wait.

I was kicking back watching C-SPAN2 recently, as I often do — no, wait. I never do that, because it's usually painfully, agonizingly boring. But luckily someone at The Daily Caller was watching and was able to call the rest of the Internet's attention to one of the most awkward and bitter breakup-revenge-fantasy-come-true moments ever witnessed on live TV. Or at least on C-SPAN.

Midway through what appears to be a pretty dry panel discussion about young conservatives, panelist Todd Seavey can contain his distaste for ex-girlfriend and copanelist Helen Rittelmeyer no longer. He begins to let her have it in a strange, rambling monologue that at first feels like a joke, but as Todd's face gets more red and Helen's more shocked, it becomes clear is not. I'm not sure Todd won this round, but it's certainly one way to get back at an ex! Check out the video; the ugliness starts around 1:45.

The GOP's Female Front-Runners: Mean Girls or Role Models?

Most of us knew a pack of mean girls in high school — some of us probably even ran with that pack, whether we want to admit it now or not!

Most of us knew a pack of mean girls in high school — some of us probably even ran with that pack, whether we want to admit it now or not! And anyone who's ever worked or socialized with other women (so, anyone) can attest that the mean girls phenomenon carries over into adulthood.

But where do you draw the line between a grown-up "mean girl" and an assertive, powerful woman? According to a couple female columnists over the weekend, the current female GOP front-runners in this Fall's political races are toeing that line — and often crossing it.

Last weekend, Senate candidate Sharron Angle demanded that Harry Reid "man up" during a debate in Nevada. California's Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman infamously hung her housekeeper out to dry once it was revealed she was an undocumented worker. In California's Senate race, Carly Fiorina is calling for Roe v. Wade to be overturned. And the list goes on!

In your mind, do these actions add up to ruthless, mean girl politics? Or are these female candidates simply doing what it takes to get noticed and get ahead in a male-dominated political landscape?

Sex Addict's Mom Wants to Protect Her . . . From Sex Addicts

Who's smizing now? A McDonough, GA, woman is suing Tyra Banks for $3 million, after the woman's then-15-year-old daughter appeared on an episode of Tyra in 2009 to talk about her experience as a teen sex addict.

Who's smizing now? A McDonough, GA, woman is suing Tyra Banks for $3 million, after the woman's then-15-year-old daughter appeared on an episode of Tyra in 2009 to talk about her experience as a teen sex addict.

The sex addict part apparently isn't the problem; the issue is that the teen allegedly made the trip to New York and appeared on the show without mom's permission. Talk about picking your battles! The woman, who's a social worker herself, worries that the Tyra episode "was undoubtedly watched by sexual deviants, perverts and pedophiles alike."

Probably true — most sexual deviants never miss an episode of Tyra! But it does make me wonder if that concern would've been more useful before her daughter flew alone to New York, stayed in a hotel, and filmed the show? In any case, don't hold your breath for a chance to judge the episode in question for yourself; she's seeking an injunction against any future repeats of the show.
