Bonnaroo 2013: The Farm's Most Fashionable

After four fun-filled days, Bonnaroo has come to a close.

After four fun-filled days, Bonnaroo has come to a close. And while we may be packing away our concert wares (for now), we've still got one more fashion dispatch fresh from the farm. This Tennessee festival was unlike anything we'd ever experienced before — that applies to the physical location, the music lineup, and, of course, the people watching. Festivalgoers flooded the fields in (as expected) less-is-more attire, dressed in a mix of frayed cutoffs, airy tops, bikini tops peeking through, and a mashup of sandals, beat-up sneakers, and flat ankle boots. For other Bonnaroovians, it was all about flowers in the hair, slick accessories, and lacy white dresses. The best looks from Bonnaroo 2013, here in the gallery.

It's a Love-Hate Thing: 12 Designers Weigh In on Kate Middleton's Style

Love her style, hate her style, or love to hate her style: it seems that quite a few fashion designers have had something to say about Kate Middleton's sartorial choices.

Love her style, hate her style, or love to hate her style: it seems that quite a few fashion designers have had something to say about Kate Middleton's sartorial choices. Roberto Cavalli is the latest to speak out about the Duchess of Cambridge, and he's hoping to bring out her sexier side. Some industry insiders praise her for wearing high street, while some wish she'd fully embrace the grandeur of "being a princess." With her due date quickly approaching, we can expect even more fashion types to weigh in on her maternity and postbaby style. But for now, a look at Middleton's effect on the fashion world below.

Christopher Kane
"It's a shame she doesn't wear more designers. I don't really like the high street getting so much of the credit. I understand that there would be an array because you need to relate to so many people in the market, but she is a princess. If I were a princess, I'd be like, 'Oh yeah, bring it on.'"
— in a November 2011 interview with WWD.

Karl Lagerfeld
"Kate Middleton has a nice silhouette and she is the right girl for that boy. I like that kind of woman, I like romantic beauties."
— in an interview with The Sun.

Elizabeth and James Resort 2014: The Minimalist's Take on Sporty

The Elizabeth and James Resort 2014 collection didn't pull any punches, aside from the few and far between pops of colour.

The Elizabeth and James Resort 2014 collection didn't pull any punches, aside from the few and far between pops of colour. And in doing so, designers Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen stuck to a fairly strict black and white palette, supplying the dynamic with the details. Embossed polka dots, sheer Greek key patterns, bright oversize clutches, and subtly placed ruffles were among the collection's most noticeable "affectations."

Through a larger lens, the Resort silhouette leaned toward a sportier kind of simplicity (just look to the racerback-style necklines and shower-esque sandal slides). But unlike the boyish attitude of other athletically inclined collections, this one felt clean and perfectly feminine.

What We're Packing: The Official Bonnaroo Checklist

The pilgrimage to Bonnaroo is upon us, and unlike its Summer festival counterparts, this massive amalgamation of music, comedy, health, wellness, and nature takes place over the course of four days on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, TN.

The pilgrimage to Bonnaroo is upon us, and unlike its Summer festival counterparts, this massive amalgamation of music, comedy, health, wellness, and nature takes place over the course of four days on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, TN. With a projected weather forecast of temps in the high 80s with a slight chance of rain, it's fair to expect the unexpected. And because of that, you've got to pack the part. The key is to stick to light layers, functional add-ons, and when all else fails, just don't forget your bikini, sunglasses, and hat. Here's what we're packing (no, really, we'll see you there!), courtesy of our no-fail checklist — and below that, be sure to shop our product picks for each must-have item.

  1. Lightweight Tops
  2. Outdoor festivals, especially ones held on a farm, mean lots of daylong exposure to the Summer elements. We're intentionally skipping anything that adds unnecessary bulk. Instead, the lightweight top — the lighter the material, the better — will be our go-to. Pick breathable fabrics, and if you're really committed, go with skin-revealing details like cutouts and sheer paneling.

  3. Sunglasses
  4. A required accessory for any sunny excursion, and Bonnaroo certainly warrants one. Whether you're more of a classic aviator type or want to get into the indie spirit with a colorful mirrored pair, sunglasses are an easy way to add flair to an outfit.

  5. Hands-Free Carryalls
  6. Our main goal is to be carefree as we make our way to This Tent, That Tent, What Stage, and Which Stage. With that said, it's important to also have the essentials (camera, money, water, and sunscreen) with you. The compromise? A compact bag that requires little handling. Our favorite picks include a belt bag that proves a modern-day answer to the fanny pack, a polka-dotted backpack, and a utilitarian knapsack.

  7. Denim
  8. Don't limit yourself to the regular "diet" of denim. Spring for a lightweight vintage jean vest, embroidered white cutoffs, and if you're feeling just the slightest bit nostalgic, don a pair of short-alls with a printed bikini top.

  9. Flats
  10. This is not the festival nor the terrain to wear heels — and you will regret it if you try. Believe us. Instead, waterproof jelly sandals are perfect for dusty days, sneakers will keep you comfortable long into the third set of the night, and gladiator sandals are a cool combination of everything in between. Be sure to bring a few Band-Aids just in case you do incur some first-day blisters.

  11. Mix-and-Match Jewelry
  12. The focus may not be on accessorizing, but that doesn't mean you can't have a little fun with it — a true bohemian would. We can't wait to pile on the brightly colored bracelets, and it may even be time to try out the ear-cuff trend for real. If you're feeling the Stevie Nicks vibe, go with long barely-there chains and stone pendants.

  13. Flowy Dresses
  14. If the plan is to go with the flow, then surely that philosophy applies to your way of styling, too. Here, we've found the sweetest array of dresses — airy, breezy, and, yes, flowy — to keep you "ventilated" but chic enough that you don't have to worry about doing much else.

  15. Hats
  16. We've said it before, and we'll say it again: protect yourself from too much sun exposure. Sunglasses is one way, but double up on top with a hat. For the girlie girl, we've got a wide-brimmed floppy hat, and for the girl who wants something sporty and unobtrusive, we've picked out the season's coolest baseball caps.

  17. Weather-Ready Essentials
  18. Whether it rains or just cools down come nighttime, we want to be prepared for all Mother Nature has to offer. Our solution comes in the form of light ponchos, fringed kimonos, open-weave knits, and a quirky cover-up that doubles as a daytime dress.

Just In: H&M Taps Isabel Marant For Fall Collaboration

H&M has tapped Parisian designer Isabel Marant for its Autumn collaboration — a match-up that seems destined to resonate with both her loyal following and the consumer audience at large.

H&M has tapped Parisian designer Isabel Marant for its Autumn collaboration — a match-up that seems destined to resonate with both her loyal following and the consumer audience at large. "I am flattered by this collaboration. H&M works with the best designers, and this invitation is an exciting honor," Marant stated.

Aside from single-handedly kick-starting the wedge-sneaker revolution, Marant has established herself again and again as an arbiter of cool-girl Parisian style. In as much, her signature mix of urban appeal, bohemian themes, and rock 'n' roll mentality will serve as the core elements of this exclusive H&M lineup. "I aim at creating something real — something women want to wear in their everyday lives — with a certain carefree style. I think this is very Parisian: you dress up but don't pay too much attention to it, and you still look sexy. The collection is infused with this kind of easiness and attitude."

Set to debut Nov. 14 in 250 stores worldwide, the collection will feature women's clothing and accessories, as well as a collection for men, a first for Marant. More on the collaboration, including a video interview with the designer, is here in the gallery.

Carrie Bradshaw Lives On: SJP Opens Up About Manolo-Approved Shoe Line

Sarah Jessica Parker will debut a line of shoes, bags, and trench coats called SJP — thus fulfilling a Carrie Bradshaw-made prophecy.

Sarah Jessica Parker will debut a line of shoes, bags, and trench coats called SJP — thus fulfilling a Carrie Bradshaw-made prophecy. "We thought [about the metropolitan New York woman]. A beautiful coat, bag, and pair of shoes — they all kind of go together," the actress told WWD.

The announcement came on the heels — literally — of the 15th anniversary of Sex and the City, and if you've even seen the opening credits, you know the HBO series put Parker on the map as both a fashion icon and, of course, as a Manolo Blahnik loyalist.

It makes sense, then, that the actress has chosen to collaborate with Manolo Blahnik's CEO, George Malkemus, and will draw inspiration from "great old-school labels like Charles Jourdan and Maud Frizon." In as much, expect classic, elegant silhouettes in unexpected colorways, with pumps and flats priced from $200 to $300, and bags starting at $700. Parker told Vogue, "We're putting new colors together that people don't typically do, just beautiful combinations that you wish existed in your closet."

Grosgrain will be one of the signature materials used within the footwear line, and Parker explained why. "I grew up having to wear grosgrain hair ribbons every day. We had a [bureau] dedicated to them." But that's not the only fabric she favors: suede also registers high on her list. "I don't like a shoe to be too shiny. Sometimes it loses its chicness. That's why suede is so nice — it takes color so beautifully as opposed to calf."

The SJP accessories collection is slated to launch in early 2014 and will be sold exclusively through Nordstrom. As for what Parker had to say about (finally) taking the design reins: "In a silly way, I think it's what people have expected of me most because of Carrie Bradshaw."

Jason Wu Is the New Artistic Director of Boss Womenswear

Jason Wu has joined Hugo Boss as the artistic director of Boss womenswear.

Jason Wu has joined Hugo Boss as the artistic director of Boss womenswear. In this role, he will be responsible for the creative direction of all product lines and image-relevant aspects of the Boss womenswear ready-to-wear and accessories collections.

Along with his eponymous line, which he will continue to work on, Wu is set to debut his first Boss collection for Pre-Fall 2014. For Fall 2014, he will hold a show during New York Fashion Week in February. As for where he'll be setting up shop? The designer plans on working with his design team at Boss headquarters in Metzingen, Germany, and in an atelier in NYC.

"I have long been a fan of Hugo Boss's vast tradition and lineage in extraordinary tailoring. With the state-of-the-art facilities that are unique to the Hugo Boss design labs, I plan to develop a strong, feminine womenswear collection that reciprocates the brand's authority in menswear," he told Vogue UK.

Karl Lagerfeld Disses Audrey Tautou, Praises Keira Knightley

Karl Lagerfeld is no wallflower when it comes to speaking his mind.

Karl Lagerfeld is no wallflower when it comes to speaking his mind. But of all the things he has said as of late, this might be the most awkward. During a recent interview with Telegraph, the designer not-so-subtly shared his disdain of former Chanel No. 5 face, Audrey Tautou. More specifically, he didn't like Tautou's portrayal of Coco Chanel in the 2009 film Coco Before Chanel.

"Oh, the movie was bad," he said. "She played it like women's lib, like Simone de Beauvoir 30 years before The Second Sex. No, no, no, no."

But Lagerfeld did provide a glowing review of Keira Knightley in her role as Coco in his new short film, Once Upon a Time: "Chanel was a different kind of woman. Keira had it. She is a young woman in love, not a spinster."

He also had only good things to say about Knightley as a real-life newlywed. "She had the least pretentious wedding ever. The whole thing was relaxed. I think it's perfect. After all they lived together for quite a time. It's not as if she is a young girl of 18 who sees the husband for the first time. She is not a country girl."

If that wasn't enough Lagerfeld candor for one sitting, he also had something to say about those who use Facebook and Twitter. "They lose a lot of time, these people, and they become stupid because they nearly tell you they're going to the bathroom, eh?"

Rag & Bone Resort 2014: The Cool-Girl Uniform, Upgraded

If Marcus Wainwright and David Neville drew inspiration from anyone, we'd guess Kate Moss played peripheral muse to Resort 2014.

If Marcus Wainwright and David Neville drew inspiration from anyone, we'd guess Kate Moss played peripheral muse to Resort 2014. Touted as "urban romantic," the lineup supplied a noticeably luxurious version of the cool-girl uniform. Sweatshirts were paneled with soft leather patches, colorblocked coats came covered in brushed mohair alpaca, and the brand's iconic ankle boot was countered with a sexy lace-up front and tassel detailing.

The ubiquitous downtown appeal was there — thanks to the return of many recognisable brand hits — but unlike the Spring and Fall collections, Resort skipped the bright jolts of orange and turquoise, and the bold turn to graphic prints, quilting, and houndstooth. Instead, the navy, black, ivory, and burgundy color palette provided a streamlined, subdued mood, allowing for the signature Rag & Bone boy-meets-girl tailoring to shine through. For longtime fans of Neville and Wainwright's work, looking at this collection should feel equal parts familiar and new, and altogether grown-up.

8 Reasons Why Vera Wang Deserved Her Lifetime Achievement Award

Vera Wang was honoured with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2013 CFDA Awards.

Vera Wang was honoured with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2013 CFDA Awards. This shouldn't come as a surprise, considering the designer's name is synonymous with "dream wedding dress." Plus, this isn't even her first time receiving a CFDA Award. She was also named Womenswear Designer of the Year in 2005. While Wang has expanded her empire to include everything from ready-to-wear and fragrance to china and crystal, and has collaborated with Kohl's, David's Bridal, and Zale Corporation in America, her stronghold on the bridal industry is unparalleled.

Due to her consistently beautiful take on intricate detailing and refreshing approach to design, Wang has dressed many high-profile brides for their big day. In honour of her CFDA Achievement Award, here's a look at some of the designer's most notable celebrity wedding dresses.

Burberry Resort 2014 Introduces the New Girl Next Door

Burberry Resort 2014 was meant for the "girl next door," but it seems Christopher Bailey's girl next door is a much sexier kind of neighbor.

Burberry Resort 2014 was meant for the "girl next door," but it seems Christopher Bailey's girl next door is a much sexier kind of neighbor. The collection mixed the pillars of a warm-weather wardrobe (sheerness, lightness, and lots of cutouts) with body-con silhouettes and tight pencil skirts — a nod to his Fall 2013 collection, it appears.

Standout versions of Bailey's pencil skirt came covered in stretchy, pastel-hued lace, and will later have removable lining added, in case you're not ready to reveal all. Looks were layered with the brand's iconic trench coats, each punctuated with glass bead embellishments, and finished with a colourful foldover clutch and white peep-toe wedge booties.

Eveningwear made an equally loud splash; and for Bailey, the outward likeability of these black and white gowns should be reason enough to expect even more eveningwear in his Spring and Fall collections.

John Galliano Breaks His Silence — and Here's What He Had to Say

In his first interview since his 2011 dismissal from Dior — which also happens to be his first-ever sober interview, too — John Galliano spoke with Vanity Fair about the addiction that consumed him, the anti-Semitic remarks he made in a Paris cafe, and the road to recovery in the two years since his firing.

The exclusive interview, which also pulls from a range of sources, including Galliano's friends Kate Moss and Oscar de la Renta, as well as members of the Jewish community, will be available in full in the July 2013 issue, but until then, a few highlights below.

On his anti-Semitic outburst: "It's the worst thing I have said in my life, but I didn't mean it. . . . I have been trying to find out why that anger was directed at this race. I now realize I was so f*cking angry and so discontent with myself that I just said the most spiteful thing I could."

On his excessive drinking and drug use: "I was going to end up in a mental asylum or six feet under."

On his first phone call in rehab: [Galliano called Bill Gaytten, who stepped in as creative director of the John Galliano label.] "Bill said, 'Do you realize what you've f*cking done?' and I said 'Kind of.' But I still didn't. I couldn't say yes. I just couldn't. And those were the last words we shared. That's someone I've known for 30 years. Even now I'm still learning every day how many people I hurt."

On the last two years: "It sounds a bit bizarre, but I am so grateful for what did happen. I have learned so much about myself. I have rediscovered that little boy who had the hunger to create, which I think I had lost. I am alive."
