While the fashion world has all eyes on NYFW, tons of stars flocked north to Canada for the big first weekend of the Toronto Film Festival. On Friday, the cast of The Town headed out to dinner together after a successful press conference earlier in the day. By Saturday, Jennifer Garner flew out from LA to meet her husband, Ben Affleck, and joined in the red carpet fun at last night's premiere of The Town. She wore a sexy black dress, while Blake Lively was a showstopper in red sequins. Ben once again goofed around with Jon Hamm and Jeremy Renner before introducing his second directorial effort to the audience. The whole crew, Jennifer included, celebrated late into the night at their afterparty. Ben's best friend Matt Damon also has a movie at the festival, Hereafter, and he stepped out yesterday afternoon for a private lunch for his ONEXONE foundation.

James Franco arrived in the morning yesterday, just in time for his first press conference promoting 127 Hours. The incredibly intense Danny Boyle movie based on the true story about a trapped rock climber is already getting great reviews, and enigmatic James happily posed with his costar Kate Mara. On Friday, Megan Fox gushed about married life with Brian Austin Green by her side at the screening of her Passion Play. Vogue covergirl Carey Mulligan had a big grin on her face for the debut of Never Let Me Go while her boyfriend, Shia LaBeouf, was spotted jogging elsewhere in the city on Saturday. Clive Owen put on a sexy stare for his duties talking Trust alongside his director David Schwimmer. Javier Bardem was in town for Biutiful, Marion Cotillard looked gorgeous for Little White Lies, and Ellen Page got buddy buddy with Justin Long for her project Super. Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z attracted a crowd of camera-phone-wielding fans after a lunch date in SoHo, NYC, on Friday. The couple are in the city ahead of his Yankee Stadium shows with Eminem on Monday and Tuesday, but before that they're both up for a number of VMAs tonight. Neither Beyonce nor Jay-Z is on the list of who's been announced to perform during the show, though they have given us great onstage moments together in the past. Beyonce's experience at the VMAs last year involved the infamous Kanye West and Taylor Swift drama, and in a few hours we'll see if the awards serve up another headline-making incident. Meanwhile, Jay-Z is keeping his eye on the up-and-coming talent in the industry, signing Will Smith's daughter, Willow, to Roc Nation after her first single, "Whip My Hair," caused such a stir.

The second annual Fashion's Night Out was an amazing success as stylish shoppers, designers, and stars took over Manhattan stores yesterday evening. Sarah Jessica Parker has played a big part in the charitable event since its inception last year and stopped by Fred Leighton as well as joining Victoria Beckham, Nicole Richie, and Brian Atwood at Bergdorf Goodman. Leighton Meester posed pretty at Roger Vivier while her Gossip Girl costar Blake Lively was off at the Toronto Film Festival for The Town. Charlize Theron joined the woman behind it all, Anna Wintour, at the Dior boutique while Rachel Bilson showed off her legs at the Sunglass Hut. SJP and Anna both made multiple stops checking out the parties and fantastic memorable moments, like Michael Kors singing "Defying Gravity" and men in full body makeup, throughout the night. Britney Spears took her younger son Jayden James out for a special one-on-one lunch in LA on Friday. The pop star was rumored to be headed to NYC to attend Pop Magazine's party at Fashion's Night Out, but it looks like Brit decided to stay home with her boys instead. She'll also be missed at the 2010 MTV VMAs tomorrow, since she played a big part in the amazing photos, sexy performances, and memorable collaborations from years past. She has been hard at work recording new music, however, so perhaps next year she'll be back among the nominees and up on stage.

Handsome Jon Hamm breaks out of Don Draper mode for the October cover of Details magazine. Inside he talks fast cars, his surprising sense of humor, and what made him fall in love with California, while some of his co-workers and friends had only glowing praise for the Mad Men star. He's currently at the Toronto Film Festival promoting The Town, which is the type of role he still thinks, is pretty surreal to land. He also has a few thoughts about the starlets of today in all their vampire-loving mania. Here are highlights:

• On fame: "L.A. represents opportunity and, as has been proven over and over in the current media landscape, it doesn't take much for them to put you on TV. If that's all you want, you can be on The Bachelor or The Real Housewives or whatever show just wants oversized personalities, ridiculous behavior, and zero dignity. . . I don't know. When you try to learn how to act, you approach it with respect. But if you just want to be famous . . . that's not that much different than porn. 'I'm a movie star!' Well, no, you're not. You're a porn star, and that's completely different. And you know, hey, mazel tov—porn probably built half the houses out here, but you're selling your dignity in a way that I feel I'm not. And once you sell it, it's gone. You ain't getting it back."
• On The Town: "It's almost like an old Hollywood movie. It's got a love story, it's got a crime element, but it's very much for adults. There's not a lot of candy for the Twitter-obsessed. It just deals with adult shit—no werewolves, no vampires. Yet . . . they're retooling it for 3D."
• On Mad Men: "If this show had been on any of the major networks, I never would have been cast, ever, period, done, never, no way. They would want someone like Rob Lowe who's got a proven track record. I would've gotten all the way to the end . . . and then I wouldn't get cast. . . I would have been perfectly happy, I think, continuing my career the way it was. Just being that guy in shows. I probably could have had a very nice career doing that. And still may, honestly. The big book ain't written yet."
• On the younger stars: "Absolutely, I don't know how the Twilight kids or Miley Cyrus or whoever handle it. You fuck up, make one bad decision, and people in Thailand Twitter about it. . . I'm old, I'm boring. I usually just duck the paparazzi. It's literally someone waiting for you to pick your nose or scratch yourself. I'm sorry, I scratched my balls—who doesn't do that? You're really going to run that story? What the f*ck?! Everyone has picked their nose at one point in their life too."

Ben's second directorial project is already getting good buzz from yesterday's screenings, while his brother Casey's movie I'm Still Here has left many critics baffled. Next up, the Affleck brothers are both headed to Canada for the Toronto Film Festival. Blake Lively missed out on the Italian festivities in order to shoot Gossip Girl and stay close to the NYFW action, but perhaps she'll be able to sneak away from Manhattan for a night to join the crew at the TIFF red carpet on Saturday.

She's coming back from an exciting week shooting LOL in Paris with her costar and friend Miley Cyrus. The girls were spotted having a wet and wild Labor Day weekend of clubbing and sightseeing in the French city to finish up work on their movie. Some of Ashley's Twilight costars are already getting back to vampire mode, like Peter Facinelli who twittered about a lengthy wardrobe fitting.
