Even though ponytails are quick and easy, they can get old pretty fast. Luckily, Amanda Seyfried is constantly giving us inspiration on how to spice up our updos. Here, Allure details all the steps to get Seyfried's twisted-ponytail look.
Amanda Seyfried routinely shows up on the red carpet with gorgeous twisty hairstyles I want to steal immediately. Cases in point: this side twist and this twisted bun. And then there's the ponytail above, which she wore to the LA premiere of A Million Ways to Die in the West. I spoke to her hairstylist Jenny Cho to find out how she did it.
"It's the simplicity that keeps this look sophisticated, but the twist in the pony also makes it young and fun," says Cho. To get it, she misted Seyfried's hair with dry shampoo for volume and texture. Next came the ponytail: "Pull hair back to the middle of your head. Brush the sides with a paddle brush, but use your fingers to pull the top back for a slightly soft, loose feeling," she says. Secure the hair as you normally would with an elastic. (Easy enough, right?)
"Once you have the pony in place, split it into two sections. Twist each section in toward the center individually, then wrap the sections around each other," says Cho. After securing the end with another elastic, she misted the whole look with Suave Professionals Touchable Finish Lightweight Hold Hairspray ($3). Finally, she pulled face-framing strands free to "loosen up the top and front for a softer finish."
