4 Nail Polish Hues That Will Remind You of Sea and Sand

Still haven't had your opportunity to escape this Summer? Indulge in a beach-inspired manicure instead by sampling one of these polishes chosen by Allure.

Each Summer, we all seem to fall into a rut of wearing the same pink, purple, and orange polish shades over and over again. But on a recent trip to a beautiful beach in Connecticut, I felt inspired to change up my typical mani/pedi look. Let me explain: Unlike some of the murky waters I've encountered at New York City beaches, the ocean there was the bluest blue, the sand was covered in seashells, and the weather was a perfect 85 degrees. So perfect, in fact, that the whole thing inspired me to move aside my staple colors for the moment and make room for blues, sunny yellows, and sheer pinks. These are my favorites:

Sand: OPI Liquid Sand in Solitaire ($9) is a pretty, silvery white that dries to a grainy finish and makes me think of beaches in Bora Bora (it doesn't matter that I've never been, right?).

Sea: Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Blue My Mind ($7), a deep blue with just the right amount of iridescence to give it dimension, looks pretty amazing when paired with gold jewelry.

Sun: A bright yellow that doesn't border on neon or green is tricky to find — OPI in Need Sunglasses ($7) is my pick.

Seashells: It doesn't matter how old I get; every trip to the beach still ends with me loading a shell collection into my tote. I layer Deborah Lippmann in Pretty Young Thing ($17) over white nails to create a she-sells-seashells-y milky pink look.
