Before You Head Out For Memorial Day Fun, Pack the SPF

Wheeeeee! Three-day weekend! It's supposed to hit the mid-70s in San Francisco, which may not sound impressive, but trust me, a warm day in the Bay is relatively rare and always appreciated. I'll probably grab some salted caramel ice cream and head to the park with friends. They usually tease me for bringing sunblock to these get-togethers, but then everybody wants a hit. (The first is free, to get them hooked.)

If you're going to be spending time outside this weekend, remember these tips: Apply sunblock a half-hour before you go outside. Keep reapplying throughout the day (for me, once an hour is good). Don't forget odd places like your earlobes and feet. And if you do get burned, aloe vera gel is your friend. Have fun!

Spray sunscreen WINS. I use it and love it.One thing a lot of people forget...your part! Tops of your ears, too. But the part is a biggie. I put a little bit of sunscreen on my pinkie finger, and run it along my part. Once you've scraped across a badly sunburned scalp with a hard-bristled hairbrush, you remember!

I'd put it on, Allytta — can't hurt. Then again, I'm always very cautious about sun exposure. You never know, you might want to put your hair up, etc. Yay Emalove! I don't either. Last week I was at the beach and decided to stop freaking out about the sun for once (vacation!). I put SPF 50 on, reapplied every 45 minutes or so... and STILL got a hint of a tan.

I was wondering should i put sunscreen on the back of my neck - I have thick long hair and that portion of my skin is always covered, Bella?
