Brit Marling Byrdie Interview

Behind the Scenes of Brit Marling's Summer Shoot For Byrdie

The best way to test-drive all the beauty trends for Summer? Grab some product, add one willing participant, and go through them one by one. At least that's how Brit Marling and brand-new online beauty magazine Byrdie teamed up for the launch of its site, which is an offshoot from Who What Wear. The indie darling has scooped up major critical acclaim for her films Another Earth and Sound of My Voice, but Marling has also been spotted in the pages of Vogue and W, making her the perfect model for the trends.

To create the ever-popular wet-hair look on Marling for the feature, stylist Lani Reeves used a healthy amount of Davines Mellow Thermal Protecting Shield ($32) and brushed it out with her fingers. Other notable looks from the shoot include bright red lips, courtesy of MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo ($15) and a dusting of MAC Pigment Powder in Red ($21).

Marling counts her lips as the place where she experiments with makeup, but her eyes might be next. After seeing her fluorescent blue lids courtesy of MAC Chromagraphic Pencil in Hi-Def Cyan ($15), Marling exclaimed, "I might try wearing blue eyeliner in real life!"
