Brush-On Mineral Powder Foundations

These amazing mineral powder foundations are talc, oil and fragrance free. They are super sheer for those of you who prefer a natural look and they all include brushes for easy portability and one step touch ups. Here are three products new to the scene.

Neutrogena Mineral Sheers® Powder Foundation, $11.99, is perfect for an everyday, natural look. The minerals are actually selected by dermatologists themselves so it won't result in clogged pores, breakouts or irritation.

The best part is how easy it is to use; all you have to do is slide the clear band down to release the brush and powder and simply shake a few times until the powder begins flowing. This easy to use and compact sheer foundation is ideal to keep in your home or to use on the go. Available in four shades as well as a bronzer.

To see two more mineral powder foundations,

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear® Talc-Free Matte Finishing Veil & Bronzing Veil, $11.95, is the perfect way to put the finishing touch on your flawless face. The formula is ultra light and provides a silky smooth finish, healthy-looking tan and a radiant glow. Available at drugstores nationwide that carry Physicians Formula products.

Alison Raffaele Mineral Powder To Go Brush, $34, is a refillable dispensing brush that you fill with mineral powder foundation ($29.50). The great thing about this brush is that you can change your colors around depending on the seasons. It is sold empty and includes a spatula for easy filling.

i currently use the neutrogena mineral foundation. it's fast an d easy to use, and gives pretty good coverage if you already have a nice complexion to begin with. the problem i encountered, however, is that it never seems to last all day and i still tend to get oily. so i'm searching for something new. seems like a good bet, the free samples i ordered came in this week, so i just need to buy an application brush & i'm ready to try it!

I tried my Mom's bare essentials and it made my face seem really glittery and plastic looking. I ordered sheer cover and I love their concealer, but again I have to be careful not to get that glittery, unnatural sheen. I usually just wear the concealer under other products.

Ok, I've heard some pros and cons one here, so I am here with some more pros!! I used to use the bare escentuals and really like it, but it was super expensive. I tried the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers and LOVED LOVED LOVED it! did I mentioned I loved it? :} It covers just as well as the BE and is is half the price! I think that if you have ever used mineral make-up before and you like it and know how to wear it, then you will like the Neutrogena. If you have never used mineral make-up before, it may not be your best first choice because you really do have to experiment a little at first until you figure out your best way to wear it. But trust me, after you do, you will never go back to liquids, yuck!

GreenSkittles, thanks for your input. None of us ever know what products we're going to have a reaction to, so that's why I've been wary of spending the money for the Bare Essentials. I like Sephora, too, so that's a good suggestion.

Be careful with Bare Escentuals!! I used mine for a week and broke out horribly. Huge cystic ones. That was two months ago and I'm still a little scarred. Turns out it's the bismuth in it that causes allergic reactions in some (my friend had the same reaction). I would suggest buying at Sephora b/c they'll let you return it hassle free. I didn't and am stuck with $90 worth of makeup that is useless. That said, for the week I used it, I thought I looked great! :) Until I started breaking out BADLY.

I used this everyday alone or very a foundation! its amazing! Makes my skin flawless, I normally hate using powders beacuse i have very oily skin and this is great, keeps the shine down

kathrynliz, thanks for the thoughts on the L'Oreal version. I've dragged my heels on the Bare Essentials because of the big investment, too. So maybe I'll try the L'Oreal first and remember your tips to start light. :)

i love mineral foundation. i had been very curious about the bare essentials brand, but was kind of put off by the number of steps, and didn't want to make a huge investment initially until i had given mineral foundation a try. i went with the l'oreal version, and i really like it. the coverage is amazing, and because it's a powder, i have an easier time on the jawline. it stays all day, too. thumbs up. for me, the trick is to start light and continue to layer until i have full coverage. if you get too excited right off the bat, it will come out uneven.

I know a lot of girls who use bare minerals and love it. I don't know that I could give up my liquid foundation. I know that if I were to go the mineral foundation route, I would definitely stick to a higher quality brand, as opposed to the drugstore brands... though I do like neutrogena makeups -- they really even out my complexion and don't irritate my sensitive skin.

I've been thinking of trying the Bare Minerals so I'm interested to see positive posts about it.

As someone who was acne prone, I find the mineral lines have too fine a powder and they irritate my skin. I'll stick to my liquid foundation. -the ceeg

I've never used any Mineral foundations but I've heard great things about BareMinerals. I stupidly bought L'Oreal's version of Mineral Makeup and it sucks. Doesn't do anything at all for me. And it was like $12. I'm def putting that one up on makeupalley.

I use the BareMinerals everyday.

I heart my Bare Minerals powder foundation! For the first time in my life I have gotten compliments on my complection. And I am close to 50! Bare Minerals is more expensive than the drug store brands mentioned above, but I won't switch. Quick & easy to apply, no "line of demarkation" on jaw/neckline. And a sensitive-skinned (redheaded) friend of mine says she loves it, too.

I've used the Neutrogena mineral sheers before and I hated it. It goes on uneven. Either too much or no powder at all comes out of the brush. It doesn't protect against oil or shine at all either. I hated it so much that I went to the Neutrogena website and complained. The company sent me a check to refund my money though, so it wasn't all bad.

I've got to have the Raffaele brush to go. I mix two bareMineral colors for my best would be so much more convenient to have them both already together and ready to go in the mornings, and it seems like it'd be awesome for traveling. One less thing to stuff in my luggage is always good!
