Lip stain is a clever concept that doesn't always live up to its potential. In theory, long-lasting color is a great idea. In practice, however, too many stains are drying, which highlights chapped lips like nobody's business. This is why I like makeup artist Christopher Drummond's creamy lip stain ($22.50). It deposits a pretty hue that (mostly) lasts through lunch, but ingredients like jojoba seed oil and beeswax keep lips conditioned. See what it looks like after the jump. Try not to be distracted by my gorgeous hairstyle. It's from a very exclusive salon called Rushed Morning Coiffure, where all clients zoom out of the door with wet hair and then develop hat head on the way to work. Anyway, here's the lip stain in Shiraz, an easy-to-wear wine shade. It's opaque enough to cover my lips, but not so much that it feels '90s goth. No dry lips, minimal transfer to my coffee cup, and probably the only beauty thing that's working on this crazy Monday morning.
