Go Behind the Scenes With Daisy Ridley and Chanel Makeup at the TCA

The Teen Choice Awards, aka the night for millennial beauty trends, is the perfect time to try a more daring look. Chanel celebrity makeup artist Jo Strettell got this memo when she did Daisy Ridley's gorgeous makeup for the 2016 Teen Choice Awards. She played up Daisy's eyes with a dramatic, deep purple smoky eye that added an edgy vibe to the actress's sequined dress and brand-new, bright red bob.

Because we are such big fans of the Star Wars star and Jo's work, we asked the makeup artist to take over our Instagram feed last night to reveal what went on behind the scenes to create this red carpet beauty moment. But first, learn exactly which products Jo used so you can DIY at home!

Inspiration: "I chose this rainbow of aubergine on the eyes and the chic nude on the lips as it complemented Daisy's new hair color and the gold sequins beautifully," Jo told us via email.

Base: Jo prepped Daisy's skin with Hydra Beauty Flash Instantly Hydrating Perfecting Balm ($55). [Editor's note: we love this product because it smells amazing and blurs pores.] Next, she evened out her complexion using Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 25 ($60). To give her cheeks some color, Jo dusted Powder Blush in Rose Écrin on the apples of Daisy's cheeks.

Eyes: Daisy eyes were lined with Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Eros ($33). Jo went around the top and bottom of the eyelash line as well as the eyelid crease, blending to contour the area. She placed the color Intensify from the Quadra Eyeshadow in Tissé Gabrielle ($61) on the crease line and outer corner of the lid. The lightest shade from the same palette was placed in the middle. To make the inner corner of the eye pop, she used the palest shade from the Tisse Dimensions Palette ($45). Using a clean brush, she blended the ombré of hues. A final highlight was added to the inner corner and center of the lid.

Lips: To not compete with Daisy's eyes, Jo picked the Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Rouge Ingénue ($37) for her lips.
