Dangerous Beauty Ingredients Quiz

What Do You Know About the "Bad" Beauty Ingredients?

April is Earth Month, a great time to think about what you put on your body and how it affects you — and the earth, for that matter. You probably see ads just about everywhere you look promoting 100 percent natural this and organic that. There are many not-so-friendly ingredients you've probably heard listed time and time again, but do you have a good grasp on what they all mean? Take my quiz to find out. This topic may be a little gloomy, but it's always better to be safe than sorry, no?

5/5...most of these, I've read about somewhere or just knew. I try to be as "green" as I can when it comes to beauty products...it's getting easier now that there are so many great options out there!

Eh, I didn't do so hot. I had no idea about the mineral oil, yeesh! For the most part I don't worry about "all natural" stuff. If I want to use something, I will, regardless of what "dangerous" chemicals are supposedly in it.

cdelaney, do you make your own products everyday? otherwise i don't think you can claim it's preservatives free and chemicals free. how do you protect yourself from UVA/UVB? it can only be done with the help of CHEMICALS.

you wrote yourself tht parabens have not been proven to be hazardous. studies shown that parabens appear in breast tumours, yes, but also they appear in healthy beast tissue so there's no link to cancer. and other preservatives shown to be unstable, like vitamin E. i'd rather have secure product than something i need to worry about.

4/5. All of my beauty products are chemical free, paraben free, preservative free, etc. It is my health, my life--I've got to take charge. Plus, my skin, hair, etc. looks great because I use only naturally derived products and only eat organic. Love Farmer's Market!

I have cut mineral oil and parabens out of my beauty regime too. I can actually notice a difference in the amount of whiteheads and acne since I cut out the mineral oil.

what do you mean, GMO doesnt stand for great makeup oprah?!!? haha jk. i got the MO one wrong b/c i was thinking about the edible MO used for constipation. they use it in baby oil products, so if it isnt safe, why are they putting it in products that you put on baby skin? so silly lol

I try to avoid parabens, 90% of my makeup doesn't have it now that I use mostly Everyday Minerals foundation, concealer, blush and shadows.
