Do You Copy Celebrity Makeup Looks from Magazines?

I am the first to admit that when I see great makeup looks in magazines on celebrities or models, I tear them out and stick them in a drawer in my bathroom. I've got about six there right now (what can I say, they get wet and I have to bin them), but the problem I always face is that I know the photos are air brushed so I can never get my skin to look as good as theirs and I can also never quite match the colors right.

I guess that's why I love to break down celebrity makeup looks on BellaSugar, so that you can actually recreate the looks at home that you see in the glossies. Is my secret bathroom habit something that you do, too?

I don't copy the looks... I think sometimes it's quite dramatic. otherwise, something that works for someone, may not work on another person. but do celebrities really have such perfect and flawless skin!

I think the issue really is the airbrushing for me. I have pretty awful skin, and it's a daily battle to try to prevent breakouts. So, when I try to duplicate really exotic looks, for some reason it just looks dirty on me since I'm already trying so hard to just make my skin look normal. Turquoise and hot pink eyeshadow for some reason makes scars look worse! :( If I see something on a celebrity photo that a paparazzi has taken and hasn't airbrushed, I might try it. Even if they don't have bad skin at least it is somewhat realistic looking!

Never, I don't wear that much makeup anyways. But I do love looking at what celebs wear (clothing) and getting inspiration from that.

I do it all the time. I rip out a ton and end up having the same two basic looks in my piles all the time. I go through them and I'm putting them in a little scrapbook because I'm going to be a cosmetologist. I want my clients to be able to pick out a look if they don't have one in mind.

I'd rather put on what's best on me

as long as they don't give the step-by-step instructions. those frustrate the hell out of me, not because i can't follow or can't figure out the look on my own, but because they are ridiculous. the model is clearly wearing at least 5 different eyeshadows, and they say, "simply sweep a shimmery green shadow (we love...) across entire lid." yeah, right...

Don't do that. I've learned from a friend of mine who's working for MAC what looks great on me with my hair, skin color and eyes color!;) I know which colors to use, he tought me some things for casual and party make up! ;) And I'm happy with these tips! ;)

Not necessarily celebs, unless they're modelling makeup! I love seeing Catherine Zeta-Jones all decked out in Elizabeth Arden! Ever since I was little and started wearing makeup I'd try to memorize the "eye" photo staring at me wherever I was buying makeup so I could go home and make my eyes look just like that. I love seeing gorgeous makeup pics and get lots of ideas and looks from them! I'm always playing!!

Heck yeah, when I was teaching myself how to put on make up I would by magazines that had a cover that reflected the activity I was doing makeup for aka prom, dinner etc... I still cut out pictures of girls that have similar skin tone/hair and use their make up. It's the best way to see what will look good on me.

I voted rarely, because I don't really get much inspiration from today's starlets, Monica Bellucci however... I get very inspired by her and her fashion :)

I have. There was one a long time ago that told me how to recreate Winona Ryder's dramatic eye makeup- lots of pewter tones and black liner- and it was excellent! I still use it
