Do You Hide Your Favorite Beauty Items From Guests?

A friend who shall remain nameless shared a confession over brunch this past weekend: when she has houseguests, she switches out her Kiehl's shower gel for a drugstore cleanser. She views the Kiehl's as a treat, and after a guest once used half of it in one sitting, she now hoards and hides it for her own use. I'd like to say that I don't do this, but I've hidden my favorite soap from my pre-teen nephew. (Sorry, buddy.) It isn't the most generous behavior, and I am ashamed, but at the same time, sometimes you just need to set something aside from yourself. Are you guilty of squirreling your favorite beauty items away?

If I had friends who could use a half a bottle of shower gel in one go, I might hide my products. I usually encourage people to use my LUSH projects, because they're so good.

When I have friends over or my parents do I hide my stash of LUSH soaps, I'm allergic to normal soap and I can't afford to have someone else use up all my soap by washing their hands with it. (It's why I have a little bottle of hand wash next to the sink.) I also have a cheapskate friend who I swear walked off with a $15 block of it once. grr..I also hide my expensive perfumes. Friends are allowed to go nuts with my cheap body sprays but one spritz of my YSL and heads will roll!I tend to hide my booze as well, just so people don't help themselves to it.

i used to feel bad but i have so many roommates and you think certain rules apply. i dont leave anything in my own bathroom bc my housemates will get to it. a couple of weeks ago i started getting lazy and leaving my shampoo and stuff in the shower, in one week it was all gone. my razor was dull and shower gel mostly gone. it's not that i dont like sharing, but i even get mocked for spending 20-40 on shampoo/conditioner. don't mock if you're gonna take it. so yes ...but now i dont feel as squirrel-y

if you saw some of my guests, you definitely would. but with people i trust, i would love them to dabble a little in my favorite products, like a free sample.

My housemates and I know better than to use each other's things. I wouldn't mind sharing if they asked and I've definitely asked to borrow some shampoo or something if I just ran out and didn't get a chance to buy more, but to use it all the time would be ridiculous. I'd also share if it was my sister because I don't really care if she uses it since she won't waste it, but I would probably move my things out of the shower if my aunt and uncle came to stay with us again. They really did not understand the concept of my things vs. their things. They even tried going on my laptop when I wasn't home and I was like "Ummmm, you know we have a family computer you're welcome to use, right? Please don't try to break into my PASSWORD PROTECTED laptop." Rude. I also caught one of my friends using my foundation when she was staying in my flat while we were on exchange (she in England and me in Scotland); I didn't mind that much, but I would have preferred if she'd asked... Turns out she wanted to use it as a base for her eyeshadow, which led me to show her my Urban Decay shadow primer potion and she ended up buying one for herself :) STILL, I would have liked it if she'd just asked before using something like that. Oh well.

Are you kidding..I hide it ALL the time, not just for guests!! I have two teenage sisters who snatch up any and all beauty products that come through our door, so I HAVE to if I want to keep anything!!

For me, it depends on the person. guests who I know and trust are welcome to use my stuff, they usually ask me,...but NOT strangers, especially after overhearing one girl at my table tell how she would go rummaging through people's closets and cabinets when she would visit their homes.

I don't have anyone showering at my apartment besides my boyfriend and I, but if I did, I would hide the expensive shampoos (My Victoria's Secret So Sexy) and my face stuff, of course. My boyfriend, he wouldn't want to use my facial stuff, and we share shampoos/conditioners.

I don't let my husband and son use the "good" stuff but will let my sisters and close friends have at it when they visit.

I don't, but I also don't have anything that I'm really attached to or that was pricey. But I'm sure if I did, that would most definitely be well-hidden.

I hide my more expensive products. I use Pureology shampoo and condition ($50) and my husband knows better than to touch it because of the price. However when we had his brother and another guy friend staying for a weekend, I hid it and my hubby called me out on it and I was honest and said at the price of that shampoo, I can't see letting men use it on their hair when I'm sure my hubby's pantene will work just as well.My mom's sister lives next to her and is cheap and won't buy stuff for her medicine cabinet (tylenol, advil, chloroseptic, etc.). Everytime she visits my mom, she steals bottles of medicine - even brand new unopened bottles! My mom now has to hide all her medicine in her underwear drawer because of it.

I don't hide my products from guests, but I do from my kids. They've gotten into my makeup, as all kids do, so often that now I just put it up where they can't get it!

I sure do hide my personal products, ever since I discovered that a guest of my roomates's used my hair straightener which I'd left out on the bathroom counter. I didn't even know the girl! Very gross.

I don't hide them from my guests, but I do hide them from my 2 bros who might both be over 18 but still are childish enough to want to play with my beauty products, like that one time one of them thought it'd be fun to check if my shampoo for blond highlighted hair would lighten his brown hair (for that, he obviously had to empty half of it, of course!) aah brothers! Also, I just wanted to say, that cute squirrel picture made me laugh so bad! Brilliant choice of pic Bella!

I am guilty of this, but not just with beauty products. I have hid meds, food, books, dvds, clothes, jewelery, and magazines. Also, recently hid all my scissors for a friend, who when she comes over likes to cut my dogs hair. Normally I do not mind, but the last time she shaved them. Again I would not have minded as it was summer in Texas, but it was a chop job. So when I went on my vacation last month and she house sat for me, I hid all the scissors and the pet trimmer.
