Hair is a fraught issue for many women, and it's not surprising that sacrificing health for nice hair is a real problem. Do you ever skip a workout or physical activity in general because you're worried about ruining your hair?
US Surgeon General Dr. Regina Benjamin stopped by the 2011 Bronner Brothers Hair Show, which is host to over 60,000 hairstylists, to talk about something that a lot of us are guilty of: skipping exercise because we don't want to ruin our hair. For African-American women in particular, going to the gym and maintaining hairstyles can be difficult, which is why Dr. Benjamin decided to make an appearance at the hair show — she wanted to talk with stylists about creating more exercise-friendly hairstyles for their African-American clients.
