Edun Spring 2012: Backstage Beauty

Edun Turns the Trendy, Beachy Look Up a Few Notches

What do you get when you mix a little glitter with a little grit? Why, surfer-grunge, of course. That's exactly the essence makeup artist Lloyd Simmonds captured when creating the glimmery, beachy beauty look for Edun. While the skin was kept "perfect and fresh" as if it was brushed by the wind and sun, the eyes were accentuated with MAC's Reflex glitter mixed with Shine Mixing Medium (both professional-only), for an antique-gold sparkle. A combination of the brand's Brit Wit (a dusty rose-mauve) and Posey (a warm peach) blushes were used on the cheeks, along with Shell (a shimmery pink-beige) and Hush (a soft, frosty peach) Cream Colour Bases, which were layered on top for a highlighted look. Lips were given a pale hue in keeping with the surfer style.

For the hair, Bumble and Bumble's Laurent Philippon made sure that the subtly roughed-up coiffure he created felt somewhat structured, all while remaining attractive and wearable. To get his "cool-girl-in-the-sun" look, start with a mixture of the brand's Surf Spray and Prep products for a conditioned-yet-matte texture. Gently backcomb the hair and flat-iron it, for a look that's blurred between soft and shiny, and rough and beachy.
