I heard they wanted to make the celebs start paying taxes on the gifts. Never happen. Love to have the gifts myself.

They didn't outlaw swag, but they are reporting who picks it up so the IRS can check that they are claiming it on their taxes...since many of the gift bags are worth thousands alone. I think its shameful that people aren't supporting the writers and boycotting the shows and swag. The sooner we show the networks this is serious the sooner people can move on.

I totally agree with you guys - it's rediculous that these incredibly rich people get so much stuff for free.... obviously it's 'free' advertising for companies... but still - it's so backwards.

I agree with previous comments that state this is rediculous. I particularly like the suggestion that they pay double, and the money goes to charity. Only I suggest they pay 10 times as much to be passed on to charities. Didn't I hear a yr or so ago that this practice of swag was going to be outlawed? I also believe stars should be paying for or renting, at a substantial donation, the jewelry, gowns and tux's. Or, at a minimum their studios should, as these stars are promoting their product.

I think it is ridiculous that they have tons of $$$ to buy all this stuff and here I am, a normal person, not poor nor rich-just average and I can't afford this stuff, yet do I get anything for free? NO! It is absolutely outrageous in my opinion. On a totally unrelated note, how many people think Romo should dump Jessica now?

I think these swag suites are a disgrace! Here you have a perfect example of the rich getting richer. These people are paid MILLIONS and they have no shame to show up for free stuff. Meanwhile we have homeless people living on the streets, people with no health care, and families that can't affford to buy anything not even food! Why not charge the celebs double the price as a charity to the less fortunate? Things like this is just pathetic.

There should be a swag day each year where the rest of us get to stock up for free on some great products.

Its great for them that they get all that swag but....if youre NOT having the awards, I think its pretty pitiful and shameful that they are still out there sucking up the free stuff :|
