I don't trust eBay. Have you heard of "Gone But Not Forgotten"? Some sites (Clinique, Lancome, MAC, other department store brands) have a "soon to be gone" section of their sites -- that's gotta be pretty reputable. And I believe that when something disappears, the company will soon replace it with something very similar under a different name: that's what happened to my old Clinique fave "Sheer Matteness" (now the less cutely named Pore Minimizer T-Zone Shine Control). Gone but not forgotten MAC's advice on the subject with phone number and website, etc.

I just bought my first discontinued product from eBay last week, and I fear it's going to be a new addiction. definitely check the seller's feedback rating, though -- it's not a perfect measure of how reputable they are, but it helps to judge.

Good tip on the "fake" EBay stuff. Is there ever a way to really know if you're being cheated or not? I want to buy some of the John Frieda Ocean Waves spray on eBay, but I'm weary about paying that much ($130 for 5 bottles of it) if it's not genuine. I used to buy that stuff so much...should have stocked up when I had the chance!!!

I found a small trial tube of Shisheido lip gloss in my bf's sister's old bathroom (she doesn't live there any more but I do!) The shade is blackberry, and it is exactly the color of my lips after I press them hard together or suck on them a bit. I have fallen head over heels for it, but who knows when it was discontinued. I can only find refereces to the shade online, always touting it as the perfect gloss, but I can't buy it anywhere. I keep checking Ebay though!

Folica.com, fo sho. They have a lot of great deals!!! Ebay kinda scares me because you never know where its really coming from or if it's a fake, like that post Bella made a few weeks ago about the fake MAC eyeshadows - yikes. This place, Folica^^ has awesome customer service and good prices. I'd deff recommend! :D

I agree...definitely Ebay. I can almost always find what I am looking for. The other day I bought my 5 yr old a favorite toy of his that has been discontinued, got one new in the package for about the same proce I paid at WalMart a year ago.

Oh, definitely Ebay. It is my site for everything! I have a compulsion, I think. Particularly when it comes to shoes....ah, shoes!
