The Fashion Week Models Did Their Own Ponytails at This Show

Models are accustomed to getting their hair blow-dried, curled, and braided multiple times a day during New York Fashion Week. But at the Misha Nonoo Fall 2015 show, they were the ones doing all the styling. "The whole thing behind this is women's empowerment, so we're having the models do it themselves," said lead Tresemmé stylist Ryan Trygstad. "They really got into it because they're used to just sitting being bored, getting their hair ripped out." The overall hairstyle referenced the '90s — a textured, low ponytail with bobby-pin accents that any downtown girl would love. And when we say it's easy to pull off, you know it's true because even the models could do it!

Each girl was given the chance to part her own hair (based on her best side) and apply gel just around her face. Next, she diffused her own strands using the Tresemmé Perfectly Undone Wave Creation Sea Foam ($7) to bring out natural texture. Then, each was responsible for brushing her hair back into a ponytail and adding matte black bobby pins in the pattern of her choice. The final step was a blast of hair spray. Whereas most designers are looking for consistency on the catwalk, no style was quite the same at Misha Nonoo this season. Each model was able to put her stamp of originality on her hair, which brings a refreshing new meaning to the term "runway DIY."
