Whenever I'm having a rough start to the week, I call it a Blue Monday in honor of the classic New Order song of the same name. The other weekend, I did a little music research, and it turns out that this track is 25 years old this year. (How time flies!) Since I doubt you're dying to know how to look like a bunch of Manchester synth-pop dudes, I decided to show you how to use blue colors in your beauty routine instead. It's not as scary as you might think, so let "Blue Monday" be your getting-ready soundtrack as you try these tips.
To make your teeth look whiter, use a sheer blue-tinted lip gloss. It won't show up blue on your lips, but it will trick the eye into "seeing" whiter teeth. (The blue counteracts the yellow dinginess of stained teeth.) Try Kevyn Aucoin The Liquid Cyber Lip in Alurabliss or Benefit California Kissin'.
To make your eyes stand out, use a blue eye shadow. Avoid pastel hues — they're too '80s. Instead, try navy as an alternative to black for a dramatic nighttime look. To ease into the look, try a baked eye shadow that incorporates other pigments, such as the newish Galaxy Glam shadows by Too Faced. They're too dark for daytime, but for night, they're just right.
